Right on schedule

TC

I had a feeling it was about time for this....

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are getting divorced after five years of marriage.

I used to partially dismiss it (well, I knew there was a slight chance) when I heard the rumors that Tom had studio-arranged marriages.

Years ago, I heard that Nicole Kidman had a 10 year contract (which, oddly, turned out to be accurate) and then someone told me that Katie had a 5 year contract, which I thought was far too short (even if it was true) considering the "I Love Katie Tour" that Tom made across the couches of the world during that time.

Photobucket

But, sure enough...they are now divorcing right at five years.

Interesting.

And, once again (because it makes me laugh far too much), here is Tom Cruise on that infamous day...except this time, with lasers shooting out at Oprah.

The music and evil laugh slay me every time!

Totally

total-recall-poster-colin-farrell

This Total Recall update with Colin Farrell actually looks like it could be good (and I don't usually have very high expectations for most remakes)...

I'm in.

Nora Ephron

Nora-Ephron-RIP

Very sad news...

Three time Oscar nominee Nora Ephron, the successful quintuple threat director and screenwriter and playwright and author and columnist who made a career out of the frank depictions of women and their relationships with men and careers and themselves, died today. She was 71.

whenharrymetsallyposter

The New York native wrote and/or directed some of Hollywood’s most admired and even best-loved modern movies, including Silkwood (1983), When Harry Met Sally (1989), This Is My Life (1992, her first directing effort), Sleepless In Seattle (1993), You’ve Got Mail (1998), and Julie And Julia (2009). She was a triple Academy Awards nominee in the Original Screenplay category for three films: SilkwoodWhen Harry Met Sally and Sleepless in Seattle

When Harry Met Sally is one of my all-time favorite movies and, other than the awful remake of Bewitched, I have enjoyed almost everything else she has written over the years.

She will be missed.

For Better and for Worse

This is one wedding photo shoot that will not be forgotten...

The reception afterwards must have smelled great.

Lady Maclaine

Shirley Maclaine's AFI Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony aired on TVLand last night and they showed a clip, featuring Maggie "Dowager Countess" Smith, from her upcoming appearance on the new season of Downton Abbey.

Oh...their time onscreen together should be very enjoyable.

Squeee!

Swimming with the fishes

joe-manganiello-shirtless-miami-06172012-13-435x580

It appears that Joe "Alcide/Magic Mike" Manganiello and Chris "Thor/Huntsman" Hemsworth have been spending some quality time at the beach lately.

Boogie Boy Deux

I posted about Matt's first video almost four years ago (lordy time flies!). It appears he has continued dancing around the world with strangers, which is still quite entertaining.

If that doesn't make your heart smile...you might need to get that checked.

Stat!

Here is his original video if you missed it before...

Vamp

The_Twilight_Saga_Breaking_Dawn_Part_2

The first trailer for the finale of the Twilight series was just released and it appears that Bella is quite happy being a super-vampire now.

However, she's not so happy that the Volturi want to kill her rapidly growing baby...

And yes....I'm going to see this.

Don't hate.

Maleficent

Photobucket

Here is the first photo released from Disney's upcoming feature Maleficent, starring Angelina Jolie.

Production is now underway on the update to the 1959 animated classic Sleeping Beauty.

Disney has released the first image of the actress as the villainess in this live-action twist, which focuses not on the good princess Aurora, but on the backstory that led Maleficent to turn against the fairy-tale kingdom.

She certainly looks the part.

Exciting.

Lee Press-On Abs

E5

Although I was disappointed with Prometheus, I still thought the production design was great. It also turns out that, although the Engineer aliens appeared to have some secret solution to working out on a barren wasteland, the reality is far different.

E7

It looks like the makeup folks added quite a bit of realistic muscle to the actor who first appears in the film.  They also seem to be working uncomfortably close to his...engineering room.

E4

E6

E3

I don't think that older alien actually ended up in the film. Maybe they thought no one wanted to see his wrinkled pecs-less torso.

E2

I'm sure it's only a matter of time before men can start buying and wearing "enhanced" muscles (like gals can do with bras).

Hopefully they'll come with a team of people to apply them as well.

You can see a lot more behind-the-scenes makeup photos from Prometheus on their Facebook page here (you'll have to login).

Team Jacob

TL

For those of you who missed this very important Tweet from Taylor Lautner this week...

this is not the best pic to share with y'all.. but.. I hope you see it with a older person hahaha
"I hope you see it with a older person" sounds kind of inappropriate.

He should steer away from comedy and just focus on doing what he does best...

Bio-Nuclear Physics and carving woodland creature figurines.

UPDATE: It turns out that the photo was sent from a fake Taylor Lautner account.  Here is the real original photo of another model.

Some of the kids are crafty with their Photoshop skills.

ProMESSeus

sacrificial_engineer_prometheus2

In space...no one can hear you work out.

prometheus-feature-2

I saw Prometheus last night in 3D and, overall, was very disappointed.

The cinematography, art direction, and creature design are great and the first half hour builds nicely, but then the characters and story quickly begin to fall apart and never recover.

It's like they couldn't decide to what kind of movie to make (thought-provoking creation mystery or the Alien action-horror sequel they originally set out to do), so they jumbled both together with unrealistic one-dimensional characters (and certainly the most un-scientific and irresponsible scientists ever assembled) and then just hoped for the best.

Such a shame.

ny_times_03

Charlize Theron looked lovely, but she spent most of the movie doing just that.

Standing and staring, with little to do.

I'm not gonna spoil it for anyone, but if you want to see it anyway (I still wanted to see it on the big screen, regardless of the reviews), I recommend you see it in 2D and not 3D (really not used effectively) and go in with VERY low expectations.

It's not an awful movie, it's just not a very good one.

Bummer.

If you've seen the movie, then you'll enjoy this funny video of a guy sitting in a room asking every question about the plot of "Prometheus" that you had when you left the theater...

Bad Dog

Photobucket

It turns out that Lindy Chamberlain wasn't lying 30 years ago...

A coroner ruled Tuesday that a dingo, a wild dog native to Australia, caused the death of a baby more than 30 years ago.

Azaria Chamberlain was just two-months-old when she disappeared from a tent during a family holiday to Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock, sparking one of the country's most sensational and enduring murder mysteries.

008289-azaria-death-certificate

The girl's mother, Lindy Chamberlain-Creighton, long maintained that a dingo took her baby, even as she was sentenced to life in jail for her daughter's murder, a conviction that was later quashed.

During the trail, a witness recounted the then 32-year-old mother's cries of a "dingo's got my baby", which was immortalized in the 1988 film "A Cry In The Dark"starring Meryl Streep, who earned an Oscar nomination for the role.

Meryl did her usual amazing job in that film and looked and sounded just like the mother.

I can't wait for the sequel, The Devil Wears Dingo.

Private Dancer

JL

It appears that Joey Lawrence is dancing with some different "stars" for a month...

"Blossom" star Joey Lawrence inked a deal in May to join the popular Las Vegas revue the Chippendales for a three-week gig at the Rio Hotel and Casino. Now the first photos of the 36-year-old actor have emerged of Lawrence donning the trademark bow-tie-and-not-much-else gear from Friday's opening night performance.

Bowfinger

arrow-stephen-amell-abs-the-cw

The CW is going to have to sell a lot of THAT, to get anyone to watch their new fall series Arrow.

arrowart1-516x315

After watching the trailer, I just don't see the hook in focusing on a character who shoots arrows really well being someone I'd want to watch every week (I mean, how many arrows can one person carry on them at any one time and still manage to out-shoot any number of guns that will likely be pointed at him?).

Here is the trailer...

It's not like he can fly, see through metal, or turn back time (only Cher can do that).

stephen-amell-shirtless_

I think their best bet is to just focus on the abs of the lead, Stephen Arnell, and hope that distracts enough from the thin "I hope I brought enough arrows to defeat this motley crew of thieves!" setup.

Photobucket

Now, if it was a workout show...they might be on to something.

New Hobbit Video Blog

hobbit-video-blog-0662012-085331

Peter Jackson has released a seventh video blog from the set of The Hobbit. This one takes you behind the scenes of the various production departments and all the sound stages. As you can see, Orlando Bloom happens to be on the set filming that day too.

I can't wait to see Part 1 of this movie in December!

You can see the other video blogs here.

Rose Buds

1338904579_betty-white-lg

Betty White finally got her waxen body-double...

In front of fans screaming, "You're amazing," former Golden Girl Betty White unveiled her very own wax figure at Madame Tussauds Hollywood on Monday.

"The only thing that irks me is they waited until I was 90," the TV legend joked as the crowd chuckled. "A few decades ago would have been swell."

Dressed in a bright pink blazer with perfectly coiffed hair, White matched the color of her replica, which was clad in a hot pink tracksuit.

It really does look a lot like her, except the nose looks a bit...odd.

It's more Jimmy Durante-esque to me.

Ah cha cha!

Jaclyn Smith must have been busy

lindsay-lohan-elizabeth-taylor-grant-bowler-richard-burton

The first pics of Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor from the upcoming Lifetime movie Liz and Dick have started showing up online.

The one at the top looks a lot better than this one...

LL

She looks more like Joan Crawford here there than anyone else.

I predict this movie will be a hot mess and, sadly, watched by millions.

I forgot to record the MTV Movie Awards last night because I was out seeing Charlize Theron (above) in Snow White and the Huntsman (which I really enjoyed).

However, it appears that Joe Manganiello arrived in his Sunday best to present an award with his Magic Mike co-stars...

The fairest of them all

Snow-White-And-The-Huntsman-Poster

Snow White and the Huntsman opens today! I've been looking forward to it since the first trailer. The movie looks really good (and the reviews seem to feel the same) and Charlize Theron appears to be ruling the kingdom with an iron fist (with the help of some nasty cape-dwelling crows).

Photobucket

Plus, Chris "Thor" Hemsworth is in it.

Enjoyable.
