I was very excited to hear that the Canadian comedy team "Kids in the Hall" are currently filming a new short series for Canadian TV (which we'll hopefully get here in the states at some point). It's called "Death Comes to Town" and looks like it should be a hoot.
I used to watch "Kids in the Hall" all the time. I always found it funnier than "Saturday Night Live" and it reminded me of another Canadian comedy show, "SCTV", that I also never missed.
The kids were kind of like a younger/hipper version of "Monty Python" and they created a hilarious group of stock characters, often in drag, that were at once relateable, shocking and, always, hilarious.
Like....the Chicken Lady, who was always horny and would become so excited that she would "explode" into a burst of feathers at some point.
The secretaries at an office who were always involved in some kind of silly personal drama or work-place issue.
And, of course, the "I'm crushing your head" guy who would hide in the bushes and take out his anger on people by secretely "crushing" their heads as they walked by.
I've done the same thing myself to a few people over the years....
Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper are part of a new campaign...
Here's the first image from a M.A.C. Viva Glam cosmetics campaign for Spring 2010 featuring Cyndi Lauper and Lady Gaga. Lauper and Lady Gaga are the newest faces of the M.A.C. AIDS Fund, which has donated over $135 million to fight IV/AIDS since 1994.
"Gaga Lipstick and Viva Glam Cyndi Lipstick, $14 each, will launch in North America on March 18 and globally throughout the month, with 100 percent of the proceeds being donated to the MAC AIDS Fund."
Saturday Night Live is giving the hilarious Kristen Wiig her own Christmas special called "SNL Presents: A Very Gilly Christmas" on December 17th at 8:00. Although, Gilly is a funny character, I would have preferred "A Very Target Lady Christmas". That character slays me...

OMG...that particular skit always makes me laugh until I cry every time I see it.
Of course, almost any character she does is funny. I also enjoy the one-upping Penolope. I've known a few people like that in life and wish that they were half as entertaining as she is while they're dominating every conversation.

I just found out that Sade has a new album coming out in February and I couldn't be happier! I love that haunting voice of hers and every one of her CD's. I can't believe it's been ten years since her last CD (this is only her sixth album in 26 years).
Wow...time flies.
Although the first single and CD title, Soldier of Love, is not as lounge-y as I'd like (I love her slow, melancholy ballads the best), it's still a pretty cool song.
"I've lost the use of my heart, but I'm still alive"...nice.
Gaga and Miley Cyrus were among the performers who put on a show for Queen Elizabeth II and her husband at Britain's Royal Variety Performance at an opera house in Blackpool, England, on Monday.
The ever-reserved monarch reportedly giggled when Gaga bowed and shook her hand, which is exactly the reaction most would have upon shaking hands with Lady Gaga!
The long red dress and 20-foot long cloak Gaga donned for her audience with Her Majesty looked almost Elizabethan, save for the fact that it was made from synthetic PVC, a material frequently used as the insulation on electrical wires. During Lady Gaga's performance of "Speechless," she sat atop a swing suspended 30 feet in the air as she played a piano held up on giant stilts.
Bette Midler was also in attendance with the other performers.
There was a time, back in the day, when Bette would have been the outlandish dame at a society function.
I guess the disco stick has been passed on to the next generation.
Post Secret has put up a video promoting their book that asks people on the street what their secrets are...
Some very interesting responses.
Hearing a secret professed on video doesn't quite feel the same as reading the new anonymous post cards on the site each week. With all the editing and music, it gives the impression that things are rehearsed and not as off-the-cuff as they may appear.
However, there were certainly a few poignant "Ah-ha" moments by a couple of the people in the video above...so, that always gets me.
I never miss an episode of "Chelsea Lately" on E!. Although she may be a bit abrasive for some people, I find her to be hilarious and, oftentimes, her interviews are some of the most honest and direct of any other talkshow host on today (and that includes you, Ms. Winfrey).
Here are a couple of my recent favorite interviews that she has done.
The first, is with Kathy Griffin. I've always thought they would be great together (since they are very similar in how they deal with people) and, I was right.
I bet they would be a riot to hang out with together.
The second interview was with Chris Colfer, the gay kid on "Glee" (and in real life). She addresses the gay issue very well and makes a point about him not being embarrassed by it because it helps a lot of kids in the world who are struggling with the same issues.
I love the part, after he says that his normal answer to the media before he came out was "I am as straight as any other actor in Hollywood", to which she replies...
"I don't know who you're referring to. I've never seen Valkyrie."
I think she's great and am so happy that she continues to do such a wide variety of work all these years later. Vanity Fair has written a "30 Years With America's Favorite Actress" article on her, so I guess I'm gonna have to get myself over to the Piggly Wiggly and get a copy.
She has done so many wonderful serious roles with a variety of accents in the past ("Sophie's Choice", "Silkwood", "A Cry in the Dark) as well as some very fun not-so-serious-actress roles ("Death Becomes Her", "Adaptation", "Devil Wears Prada") and, of all things, played the delightful Julia Child last year in "Julie and Julia".
I'm looking forward to "It's Complicated" with she and Alec Baldwin too. They should be a fun team.
I also like that she's so normal and funny whenever she is interviewed or giving a speech. Here she is giving an award to Stanley Tucci in New York recently...
"Family Ties" actress Meredith Baxter made the media rounds Wednesday confirming the rumors that she is a lesbian. "It was a later in life recognition," the actress explained to Matt Lauer on the "Today" show Wednesday.
Baxter also told People magazine that she has been in a four-year relationship with Locke, who works as a building contractor. Baxter has been dating women for the past seven years, and "the thought of being gay never crossed my mind," she said.
She's partnered with a building contractor, so there's already one stocked toolbelt in the house.

Honestly, of all the cast members...I would have guessed Tina Yothers or Justine Bateman might have had the most potential to be Friends-of-Ellen (Michael Gross already had the bear-beard...so that wouldn't be a shocker).
