Strangely Fascinating
The production company that created many of the special effects for the movie Doctor Strange released a demo reel today that showed just how much detail went into creating some of their crazy visuals...
I already loved the movie, but appreciate it even more after seeing that.
Enjoyable.

Bill Paxton
Very sad news over the weekend...
Bill Paxton, the veteran actor who starred in Big Love and appeared in films like Aliens, Twister and Apollo 13, died Saturday following complications from surgery. He was 61.
Before achieving marquee status in blockbusters like Apollo 13 and Twister, Paxton managed to transform his secondary roles into memorable turns, like his obnoxious older brother in Weird Science, his gabby police officer in Predator 2, the marine Hudson in Aliens and a sinister vampire in Near Dark.
After appearing in a bit part as a punk in The Terminator, Paxton became a favorite of director James Cameron, appearing in small-but-memorable roles in that filmmaker's Aliens, True Lies, Titanic and the documentary Ghosts in the Abyss. Paxton was also one of only two actors - Lance Henriksen being the other - to be killed by a Predator, a Terminator and a Xenomorph from the Alien series.
Following roles in Tombstone, Trespass, One False Move and Frank and Jesse, Paxton was cast to star in the 1995 blockbuster Twister, cementing his status from unforgettable character actor to leading man. Over the past two decades, the actor also starred in A Simple Plan, the Spy Kids series, Nightcrawler, Club Dread and Frailty, which he also directed.
Paxton will likely most be remembered for his starring role of Bill Henrickson, a modern-day polygamist living quietly in the suburbs, in the HBO drama Big Love, a role which earned Paxton three Best Actor Golden Globe nominations. The series ran for five seasons.
He was always good and fun to watch in anything he was in...such a shame and so young.
He will be missed.

Can't wait.

Just Kidding
This video compilation of the Best of Kristen Wiig is really funny. You forget how many great/hilarious characters she used to do on SNL...
I had forgotten about her Judy Grimes character. It's amazing how fast and clear she can speak her "Just Kidding"s and be so easy to understand.
The dialog is hilarious!
The video doesn't keep up exactly with the audio, so better to just listen to it.

A Solo Selfie
The first photo from the new Han Solo movie was released today...
The first photo from the set of the still-untitled Han Solo film was posted Tuesday, and things are pretty cramped in the Millennium Falcon.
From left to right you’ve got Woody Harrelson, co-director Chris Miller, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Alden Ehrenreich, Emilia Clarke, co-director Phil Lord, Donald Glover, and, of course, Chewbacca.
I didn't know Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) was also in it.
Exciting!
The movie is scheduled to be released on May 18th, 2018.

Very
A new trailer for the third and final season of the HBO series The Leftovers was released today....
Things don't appear to be any less grim than last season. If anything...folks seem worse.
But, I'm still gonna watch it through the, likely, very depressing and bitter end.
The final season begins on April 16th on HBO.

Fantastical
The digital team behind Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has released a demo reel of some of the effects used throughout the film...
After watching it, the main thing you start to realize is that almost 90% of the film is CGI.
It's crazy how realistic special effects have become these days.

Updating Things
The new issues of Entertainment Weekly features the cast of Stranger Things and gives some good insight into the new season (and, obviously, a new curly-doo for Seven)...
Stranger Things season 2 begins nearly a year after the first installment, on Halloween in Hawkins, Indiana. (The boys are going as the Ghostbusters, naturally.) Will has rejoined his pals after being rescued from Things’ alternate dimension, the Upside Down. But all is not well with young Mr. Byers, as evidenced by the slug he coughed up in season 1’s final moments. “He seems to be seeing images from the Upside Down—the question is whether they’re real or not,” says co-creator Matt Duffer. “So it seems like he’s having some sort of post-traumatic stress disorder.”
If you haven't watched the first season yet on Netflix....DO.
It's fun and pretty awesome.
Season 2 will premiere on October 31st.

Richard Hatch
Very sad news today....
Richard Hatch, who starred alongside Lorne Greene and Dirk Benedict in the 1970s sci-fi series Battlestar Galactica, has died. He was 71.
Hatch earned a Golden Globe nomination for his role as Captain Apollo on the original Galactica, which was greenlighted amid Star Wars mania in the late 1970s. The series, which was expensive to produce and ended up airing only 21 episodes, also earned a Globes nom in 1979 for Outstanding Drama and won a pair of below-the-line Emmys.
After his signature role on Galactica, Hatch continued working in films and TV throughout his life. Along with more guest work on such hits as Murder, She Wrote, T.J. Hooker an arcs on Dynasty and Santa Barbara, he landed a recurring role as Tom Zarek on Sci-Fi Channel’s 2004-09 Battlestar Galactica series that was toplined by Edward James Oleos.
I loved the original Battlestar Galactica, so am sad to hear of his passing.
It's crazy how fast time flies...and scary.
He will be missed.

Moose Lambs
One of the funniest sketches SNL has done in a LONG time....
I didn't think it was possible for me to love Melissa McCarthy any more than I already did.
But, I do.

Rent Control
If you're a Seinfeld fanatic and have $400 laying around...you could own one of THESE scale models of Jerry's apartment...
It’s quite possibly one of the most recognizable apartments in TV history, and if you’ve been looking to fill a Costanza-sized hole in your heart ever since the show went off the air, you can now own a tiny replica of the Seinfeld apartment, recreated with an incredible attention to detail.
Inside this 1:26-scale replica of Jerry’s apartment, which measures over 16-inches across, you’ll find over 100 miniature elements including furniture, plates and cups in the kitchen cupboards, an Apple Macintosh perched on a desk near the window, and even a working front door just waiting for a tiny Kramer to slide through.
Tiny Kramer.
That sounds like a sitcom that is probably already in development at one of the studios as I type this.
And I'd probably watch it.

A Hero
Here is a sneak peek at a very funny Kia commercial, starring Melissa McCarthy, that will be airing during the Super Bowl this weekend...
It's entertaining, but I really wish they would have allowed her swear in it.
Very few people on this planet can verbally assault the air with a barrage of obscenities like she can.
It's an art and it always slays me when she does it.
Always.

These three words...
Star Trek: Discovery finally started filming over the past week. To help build some excitement, the studio has released a sneak-peek at some of the sets, costumes and other behind-the-scenes surprises...
After months of delays and rescheduling...it's nice to see that things are finally in motion.
Let's hope it doesn't suck.
The series is currently set to premiere in May on CBS All Access.
