Bridal Mania

Photobucket

Although The Hangover 2 made a bazillion dollars this weekend (I still have to see the first one, so I'm holding off), I went to see Bridesmaids instead and it was HILARIOUS!

Melissa McCarthy (above) almost steals the movie (and that's hard to do, because Kristen Wiig is a riot).

Photobucket

If you want to spend a couple of hours just laughing your ass off, I highly recommend you see this.

I won't spoil any of the surprises, but there is a scene in this bridal shop that you won't soon forget.

Photobucket

I'll just say this...refrain from drinking any beverage once they enter that room.

Trust me.

Factory Worker

Photobucket

The gal who played the spoiled Veruca Salt in the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory movie has written a book about her experience shooting the film.

I did save my Everlasting Gobstopper but I sold it about eight years ago. I gather that it’s popping up at various auctions these days. I sold it before its price reached the dizzying heights of today. It wasn't candy. It's made from - if you can imagine - sort of molded plastic; something similar to what you would get in a lid on a takeaway cup of coffee.

Made of plastic?

I guess they really are everlasting.

Got Lantern?

Photobucket

Only a few more weeks until it opens...

Enjoyable.

You know what's not enjoyable?

My DVR not taping Oprah's last show yesterday.

*Sigh*

Twister

The Joplin tornado was devastating and, as you'll see from these amazing photos, left parts of the city forever changed.

BEFORE

Photobucket

AFTER

Photobucket

As a kid in Ohio, I remember having to crawl under the house whenever we had a tornado warning. The waiting was scary, but nothing like this video taken from someone in Joplin who was inside a store that was torn apart when the tornado hit.

The video i took while at Fastrip on east 20th street. We huddled in the back of the store until the glass got sucked out , then ran into the walk in storage fridge. Sorry for the lack of visuals but the audio is pretty telling of how intense the storm was. The tornado hits at around 1:20 seconds.

It really gives you a terrifying idea of what it would be like to be sitting and waiting in the dark when a building is suddenly destroyed all around you.

The guy went back to the store the next day and here's what it looked like...

They were very lucky to get out alive.

Wow.

Tonight is the season finale of Glee and, to celebrate, here are some photos of Darren Criss from his fashion layout in the new GQ magazine.

Still here

I'm sure there are a lot of Rapturists out there who are a little disappointed today, but I'm feeling pretty good about the whole thing.

Although, if they had gotten their way, this video shows that it might have been a win-win for all of us.

The new guy

Photobucket

With Jerry Bruckheimer's new Pirates of the Caribbean movie coming out today, I thought I'd post this funny spoof of how Mr. Bruckheimer and his team come up with all of their crazy movie ideas.

It's probably not that far from reality.

Photobucket

Hope to see you all here on Monday.

Fake Jake

Photobucket

Buzzfeed got a letter from Jake Gyllenhaal's lawyer asking them to remove a faux picture of him in his underwear.

Apparently Jake Gyllenhaal has a big problem with people photoshopping his head onto another person's body. We received a takedown notice from Jake's legal team regarding this picture of a fake “Jake” posing like Grace Jones in his underwear. We removed the photo, but we're still wondering: what's the big deal?

They also have a link to "Every Shirtless Photo of Jake" on the internet.

Whoever says research is boring is obviously not working at Buzzfeed.

Yabba Dabba

It looks like Seth MacFarlane has another animated family on his plate...

Seth MacFarlane says the very first cartoon character he drew at age 2 was Fred Flintstone. “So it’s appropriate that events have come full circle, allowing me to produce the newest incarnation of this great franchise. Plus, I think America is finally ready for an animated sitcom about a fat stupid guy with a wife who’s too good for him.”

MacFarlane shed some light on his plans for the remake: The characters will look the same but he'll introduce new technology, like "What is the animal version of an iPad?”

Production on the animated series will begin production in Fall 2011 for a 2013 premiere on the Fox schedule.

I think Stewie should play Bam Bam.

Or Pebbles.

Comings and Goings

Photobucket

The networks announced their fall lineups last week and there were some surprises indeed. True Blood is still undead and starts airing new episodes next month.

Photobucket

Ashton Kutcher is set to replace Charlie not-so-winning Sheen on Two And A Half Men, which should be interesting for those of you who actually watch it.

Photobucket

I was pleased that David E. Kelley's Harry's Law is returning. I love Kathy Bates and usually enjoy his shows. However, his updated version of Wonder Woman did not get picked up.

Photobucket

I am disappointed that we won't even get to see the pilot, but they kinda ruined it when they gave WW blue boots and hooker pants.

Duh.

Photobucket

V didn't get renewed either, which wasn't a surprise to me. If the entire series had been half as good as the last half hour of the finale, things might have been different.

Photobucket

And, finally, Brothers and Sisters did not get renewed for another season, which is disappointing. Although the plots began to get more melodramatic over the past couple seasons, I still really enjoyed the show overall and will miss getting my weekly Sally Field fix.

Because I like her.

I really, really like her.

Gagaville

Photobucket

It looks like virtual farmers will soon have more to tend to...

In an unlikely partnership, Zynga announced today that they have partnered with pop sensation Lady Gaga to promote her new album, "Born This Way."

How is this exactly going to work? Well, for one thing Farmville players will be treated to "a Gaga inspired farm in-game, which will showcase Lady Gaga's style and themes from the album and videos... think crystals, unicorns, sheep on motorcycles," Zynga said in the press release. Rewardville will offer ten virtual items across their games for players to obtain.

There's also a couple of contests for Gaga fans, sponsored by Zynga. Seven people a day who buy the Game Cards win a day "On the Set With Gaga" during the artist's next music video shoot, while those who play the special Gaga word of the day on Words With Friends will be entered to win tickets to a concert on Lady Gaga's next tour, plus a signed copy of "Born this Way."

Great....now I've got to try to find someone I can trust to take care of my unicorns when I go out of town.

Rocket Man

Photobucket

I don't think I could do this...

The whole strapping-on-the-gear-and-blindly-dropping-backwards-out-of-a-helicopter-and-THEN-hoping-the-jet-pack-actually-starts thing is a "little" crazy.

That's just me.

Replacing Arnold

Photobucket

Maybe Maria Shriver will go after the new Conan, Jason Momoa, now that she's left the old one.

Photobucket

The latest trailer for the new Conan: The Barbarian movie was released recently. It looks like it has all the cheesy desert fun that Arnold's version had, but with more CGI.

There seems to be plenty of sword swinging and damsels distressing, which the kids should enjoy.

Photobucket

Plus, you gotta have angry brooding.

Photobucket

It's probably gonna be awful, but it's not like it has a lot to live up to.

Photobucket

I'm in.

Undeclared Candidates Debate

Tina Fey hosted Saturday Night Live again this past weekend and gave us another hilarious Sarah Palin sketch...

"I want to acknowledge that this week we finally vanquished one of the world's great villains -- and I for one am thrilled to say good riddance to Katie Couric."

I love Tina.

Judas

Lady Gaga's new video premiered last night.

It's kinda hard to understand the lyrics and I'm not really sure what the video is about, other than some obvious religious references.

But...it's catchy, shot well, and it's got a beat that the kids can dance to.

Sometimes that's enough.

Here she is performing on Oprah yesterday.

She does know how to put on a show.

Vin Diesel and his biceps grace the cover of the new Men's Fitness magazine this month.

I really could have used his help unloading my moving truck last year.

Got Windex?

Corning created this cool promotional video, A Day Made of Glass, about what the near future will hold for us...

TLC better start ramping up for production on their new show focusing on OCD folks who have a problem with fingerprints on glass..."Streakers".

Don't look, Ethel!

The end is near

Here is the latest (and likely final) trailer for the last film in the Harry Potter series.

It does look good...

My Portland travel article

Photobucket

I wrote another travel article for the May issue of Instinct Magazine that is on newsstands now (cover above). This one was focused on my recent trip to Portland, Oregon and the photos that I took along the way.

I talk about the fun Jupiter Hotel where I stayed, the gorgeous Multnomah Falls, the serene Washington Park, and the delicious variety of food carts throughout the city.

If you can't find the issue, you can go to their subscription page and call the number there to order it. Just tell them you'd like the May 2011 issue.

And no, that is not me holding the camera on the cover.

I was several abs and an up-do short to be considered for that.

Although, I do have a great personality.
