Batgirl is flying solo. The super-heroine is getting her own standalone movie from filmmaker Joss Whedon.
Whedon is nearing a deal to write, direct, and produce an untitled Batgirl pic for Warner Bros. as part of its DC Extended Universe. The Batgirl project will be the second movie from DC Films to star a female lead after Gal Gadot’s “Wonder Woman,” which opens June 2.
Whedon would be making a big move from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to its DC counterpart, having written and directed “The Avengers” and “Avengers: Age of Ultron” for Disney-Marvel. He also created the television series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Angel,” “Firefly,” “Dollhouse,” and “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”
This is very exciting news.
I enjoy just about everything that Joss Whedon has done, so far. He writes great characters (especially females) and always has an element of fun in his projects.
The Justice League trailer was released over the weekend...
It's a pretty good trailer, although it does appear to be as dark and CGI-y as the Batman v Superman trailer, so I'm hoping it's not going to be too shot-on-a-green screen looking in the theater.
But, I'm still looking forward to this and hope the story turns out to be lot better than Batman v Superman.
The first full trailer for the new season of the FX series Fargo was released...
Like the others, this has a great cast (Ewan McGregor playing two characters, Carrie Coon from the Leftovers) and looks as dysfunctional as the first two seasons.
From an original script by the film’s writer-director Richard Curtis, the founder of Red Nose Day, the short film revisits the movie’s characters to discover what they’re up to in 2017. In addition to Grant, Lincoln and Neeson, cast members revisiting their roles from the movie are Martine McCutcheon, Colin Firth, Lucia Moniz, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Olivia Olson, Bill Nighy, Marcus Brigstocke and Rowan Atkinson. For the third year of Red Nose Day in the U.S., Americans nationwide wear their red noses and raise money and awareness to help children living in poverty in America and around the world. Red Nose Day has raised more than $60 million in its first two years since launching in the U.S. in 2015.
The short film will air May 25 on NBC as part of The Red Nose Day Special and March 24’s Red Nose Day in the UK on BBC1.
It’s actually hard to name every single god we get to see here, but it looks like at least Bilquis (Yetide Badaki), Czernobog (Peter Stormare), Zorya Vechernyaya (Cloris Leachman), Mad Sweeney (Pablo Schreiber), Vulcan (Corbin Bernsen), Easter (Kristin Chenoweth), and Mr. Nancy (Orlando Jones) are all getting time. And, of course, Technical Boy (Bruce Langley) stands out from the pack, in terms of new gods.
It looks visually interesting and I do enjoy Cloris Leachman in anything. However, it does look pretty stabby, so that could be a challenge.
I'll see how the reviews are and then decide if it's worth getting Starz or just waiting for it to show up OnDemand.
Charlize Theron has two big movies opening up in the next few months and she appears to be kicking all kinds of ass in both of them. The first trailer is for Atomic Blonde....
It reminds me of the Bourne Identity movies...especially the one-shot fight sequences.
Looks pretty good and she's always awesome to watch.
The cast of Will and Grace tweeted some pics from their first promo shoot for their new season of the show that starts production soon and will air sometime in the 2017-2018 TV season....
