The first trailer for Dark Phoenix was released today...

It seems to have a bit more serious tone than the previous ones and, so far, it's looking pretty good.

Hopefully the movie will live up to the trailer when it comes out on February 14th.

A good way to avoid Hurricane Florence, is to go to Florence, Italy.

And that's just what I'm going to do for the next ten days.

I'm looking forward to going back and spending more time exploring the city.

Arrivederci!

Never Enough

 photo d261efdc-ee76-4a51-8c1e-42a2dd486406_zpstmcx2pbh.jpg

The Greatest Showman arrived on HBO this weekend and I finally got to see it last night and really enjoyed it.

The film is beautifully shot, has incredible set design, and is well-acted. There are some very nice musical numbers in there, but one of them blew me away and I've probably listened to it about 30 times in the past 24 hours...

The way the song is shot, the multitude of emotional moments that occur for various characters during the performance, and the pure power of the song really touched me. I really did think that the actress, Rebecca Ferguson (currently in the new Mission Impossible: Fallout movie), sang the song.

Then, I read up on it and found out that, although she can sing, when she heard Loren Allred sing it...she fully supported them using her vocals instead. Loren studied how Rebecca sang it on-screen and copied every detail of her performance vocally.

It's flawless.

Here is Loren singing it herself recently...

What an amazing voice!

This will go on the list of songs that will forever be playing in my mental jukebox on a regular basis.

If you haven't seen the movie...do.

You'll be glad you did.

Bill Daily

Sad news over the weekend...

Actor Bill Daily, the jocular sidekick to Larry Hagman on I Dream of Jeannie and later the star of a short-lived series of his own, has died. He passed at age 91.

Daily was on all five years of the I Dream of Jeannie sitcom, playing the supportive friend to Jeannie (and genie) master Hagman.

He later was a neighbor of Bob Newhart on The Bob Newhart Show, playing pilot Howard Borden, and then appeared as Dr. Larry Dykstra, a psychiatrist on ALF. He also appeared on the TV shows Bewitched, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Love American Style, Aloha, Paradise, and Starting from Scratch.

He was great on I Dream of Jeannie and The Bob Newhart Show..always fun to watch.

He will be missed.

Burt Reynolds

 photo 081381a1-1ad4-47d2-9ab1-cfcdcfaf7850_zpslvvxqljc.jpg

Very sad news today...

Burt Reynolds, the mustachioed megastar who first strutted on screen more than half a century ago, died Thursday. He was 82.

The Michigan native, whose easy-going charms and handsome looks drew prominent roles in films such as "Smokey and the Bandit" and "Boogie Nights," suffered a cardiac arrest. An iconic Hollywood sex symbol in front of the camera, Reynolds also tried his directorial hand behind it, and later earned a reputation for philanthropy after founding the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film & Theatre in his home state of Florida.

John Boorman's 1972 thriller "Deliverance," which cast Reynolds as outdoorsman Lewis Medlock, that is widely credited for launching his early career. Reynolds had hit it big and starred as an ex-football player who landed in prison in the film "The Longest Yard."

Two years earlier, he broke taboo and posed nude in Cosmopolitan magazine, which helped cement his growing status as a sex symbol. In 1998, Reynolds scored his sole Oscar nomination for best supporting actor after his portrayal of a porn film producer in the film "Boogie Nights," despite his dislike of the film and its apparent glorification of the porn industry.

He was always a likable guy in most movies and fun to watch during interviews. He had a great career and, most of the time, lived a life that most people just dream about.

He also seemed to have a lot of fun when he was filming, as you'll tell from these outtakes from Cannonball Run...

He will be missed and fondly remembered.

Marvelous

Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we are finally getting the first look at Captain Marvel in her costume and some pics from her upcoming film...

I actually know very little about this Marvel character, but I know she will play a part in the upcoming Avengers movie, which opens a couple months after her solo film opens on March 8th.

And I'll be right there to see it all come together.

The Witcher

 photo Screen Shot 2018-09-04 at 7.32.58 PM_zpsv0sxazkt.png

It looks like Netflix got Henry Cavill to play the lead in their upcoming The Witcher TV series...

Netflix’s Witcher series—showrun by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and based on the fantasy novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, rather than the wildly popular video game adaptations by CD Projekt Red—has been quietly bubbling away in the background for the last year or so, but it took a major step forward with the casting of Cavill as Geralt of Rivia.

The main protagonist of the Witcher series, Geralt is a genetically-enhanced swordsman for hire, using his Witcher abilities to hunt down monsters and defend the lands of The Continent from monstrous beasts. While Sapkowski’s novels have grown in popularity over the years, most know Geralt primarily as the protagonist of the sprawling video game RPGs in CD Projekt Red’s Witcher trilogy, where he’s brought to life by Doug Cockle, whose iconic voice defines Geralt for many fans.
