Space camp
Awesome news about the classic Lost in Space TV series...Netflix is creating a new version...
Netflix has given a 10-episode straight-to-series order to Lost in SpaNetflix Logoce, a remake of sci-fi master Irwin Allen’s 1965 cult TV classic, from Legendary TV. The streaming service landed the project for development in November in a competitive situation, with multiple bidders. It is eyed for a 2018 premiere.
The new Lost in Space takes its cues from the original series, centering on the Robinson family, who is forced to come together in a time of crisis. Stranded light years from their intended destination, they find themselves battling a strange new alien environment and also their own personal demons.
“The original series so deftly captured both drama and comedy, and that made it very appealing to a broad audience. The current creative team’s reimagining of the series for Netflix is sure to appeal to both fans who fondly remember the original and to create a new generation of enthusiasts around the world,” said Cindy Holland, VP Original Content at Netflix.
I loved this series as a kid and also didn't hate the movie they made a while back. So, I'm definitely going to keep my EYE out for this one!

Bastard Effects
Check out this great video on the many special effects used in the recent "Battle of the Bastards" episode of Game of Thrones...
The amount of detail and precision that goes into these kind of shows is amazing. They really do make it all seem so realistic.
Crazy good.

Sledgehammer
A new Star Trek Beyond trailer was released today, featuring a new track from Rihanna ..
Nothing really new in the trailer, so I guess someone in marketing at Paramount just had a lot of free time over the weekend just wanted to keep themselves busy.
I wish they had baked me chocolate chip cookies instead.

Dracarys
This past week's episode of Game of Thrones, titled "Battle of the Bastards", was one of the best of the entire series.
Besides the awesome three dragon attack on the Master's fleet of ships, there was the spectacular battle between Jon Snow and Ramsey to regain control of Winterfell.
It was one of the most realistic and anxiety-ridden battles ever captured before on film.
Check out this behind-the-scenes video on how they accomplished such a cinematic feat and how much planning and work went into creating the battle of the century...
And we also won't ever forget this final shot of the episode...
Pure satisfaction.

Anton Yelchin
Very shocking and sad news over the weekend...
Actor Anton Yelchin, 27, who played Chekov in recent "Star Trek" movies, was killed in a freak accident early Sunday morning.
Yelchin, who also acted in "Like Crazy" and "Alpha Dog," died outside his home in Los Angeles, according to law enforcement. Yelchin stepped out of his car in the driveway of his Studio City home at around 1:10 a.m. PT when the car slid backwards and pinned him against a brick pillar and a security fence, causing trauma that led to his death.
What a terrible way to go. It's just another of life's reminders that any day could randomly be our last.
Be kind to people, enjoy your life, and the people you share it with every day.
He will be missed.

Speed Dame-on
A couple of months back, I watched Dame Helen Mirren tell Graham Norton that, of all the kinds of movies she's done...the one she would MOST like to do, to everyone's surprise, was a Fast and Furious movie.
And now, it looks like her dream has just come true...
Helen Mirren has joined the cast of Fast 8, the latest in Universal’s fast-moving franchise that F. Gary Gray is directing. That makes two Oscar Best Actress winners on the pic, joining Charlize Theron who also is playing a new character. Mirren confirmed the deal to join the movie in an interview with Elle, saying “I said, ‘I’ll be in it, but only if I’m allowed to drive if I do drive in it.’ But we’ll see. We’ll see how it transpires.”
I think it's great that someone who has done so many "high-brow" Oscar-winning movies reveals that she likes a lot of the same popcorn movies that the rest of us do from time to time.
She's going to be awesome in it!
Now we've just got to get Maggie Smith into an Avengers movie!
The movie opens April 14, 2017.

Wolfman of Steel
Teen Wolf's Tyler Hoechlin has been cast to play Superman on the next season of Supergirl...
As Supergirl prepares to fly faster than a speeding bullet from CBS to the CW, the network has announced that Everybody Wants Some! star Tyler Hoechlin has been cast as Superman/Clark Kent, the first live-action television incarnation of the Man of Steel since Smallville starring Tom Welling went off the air in 2011. As previously announced, Superman will make his debut on the DC Television universe, which also includes The Flash, Arrow, and Legends Of Tomorrow, at the start of Supergirl‘s second season when he visits Kara in National City.
I haven't seen him act in anything, but his body of work, evidently, speaks for itself.
We'll see how he fares when the second season of Supergirl debut's on the CW in the Fall.

On Broadway
Since James Corden is hosting the Tony Awards this weekend, he decided to load up a few Broadway stars (Lin-Manuel Miranda, Audra McDonald, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Jane Krakowski) into his car for another edition of Carpool Karaoke..
That last song from Les Miserables was awesome and hilarious!

Games people play
In other sad news, in a Vanity Fair interview, one of the directors seems to confirm that the next season of Game of Thrones might be shorter than the current 10 episode seasons we're used to...
They’re only doing seven [episodes], and they’ve got their regulars who have done it forever.
I'm with the Dowager Countess on this bit of news...
Let's hope that changes.
