Snow Day

 photo Screen Shot 2019-05-29 at 7.47.23 PM_zpssi9xwrd1.png

It turns out that the ending of Game of Thrones did more than just disappoint people, it appears to have caused Kit Harington to take a much-needed break...

The Game of Thrones finale hit everyone hard, but for Kit Harington, for all his character went through, he needed to decompress from all of it. The actor, who played fan favorite Jon Snow for eight seasons, checked into a “wellness retreat” since the finale of the HBO fantasy series.

“Kit has decided to utilize this break in his schedule as an opportunity to spend some time at a wellness retreat to work on some personal issues,” Harington’s rep told Deadline. “It definitely won’t impact any potential upcoming work.”

Harington was also visibly emotional in the documentary Game of Thrones: The Last Watch which aired May 26. We saw Harington get emotional while filming his final scene where Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson) is killing prisoners after King’s Landing has been burnt to a crisp. We also saw him brought to tears during the table read for the finale as he finds out that he is the one that kills his Auntie/Lover Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).

Hopefully he recovers well and is able to move forward happily in his life.

The same can't be said for many people who saw the Game of Thrones finale.

Game of Thrones: Behind the Scenes

 photo e82b5ee2-eab0-4e5c-8df5-dfa221b63329_zpsj1i40aop.jpg

A very cool video was just released that shows some of the creative ways that the Game of Thrones' effects teams worked their magic on the first two episodes of this season...

It's amazing how many large and very subtle effects are used within any given scene of the show.

Awesome.

Update: The video was taken down. However, I've found another video that showcases the variety of cool effects used on the show.

Winter is here

HBO released a trailer of their 2019 shows and, in it, are scenes from the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones...

Lots of good shows coming back, but I'm most excited about the final seasons of Veep and Game of Thrones!

Entertainment Weekly released a series of covers focused on the Game of Thrones actresses this week...

That is certainly the cleanest any of them have looked in the past five seasons.

Maybe Season 6 is subtitled "Year of the Shower".

The new season of Game of Thrones begins on Sunday April 24th.

The Game Revealed

 photo 00457500-4cd3-4eb9-beec-77ee4527a90b_zpsshidhadh.png

The Game of Thrones season finale was last night and it was pretty intense. Although we have to wait at least another year until the final season, HBO just released the first of seven new behind-the-scenes shorts, called The Game Revealed, which should help tide us over for another few weeks.

Hot on the heels of season seven’s conclusion, HBO announced a new short-form show called The Game Revealed. In seven installments, it will explore the making of each episode from this season. The first episode of The Game Revealed is all about the premiere episode of this season, “Dragonstone”...

Every Monday, a new episode will go up on HBO’s various platforms, including HBO Now, HBO Go, HBO On Demand, and other related portals.

I love seeing how all of the creative forces pull together to bring these crazy stories and amazing visual effects, both big and small, into each episode. It's mind-blowing.

Also, if you want to see a closer look at the very intense Dragon pit meeting of the gang with Cersei last night in the finale, check out this new video as well.

It's pretty surreal and funny to see them all in full costume checking their cell phones towards the end of the video.

The waiting Game

 photo giphy_zps3aqqajv7.gif

Well, it looks like we won't get the final season of Game of Thrones for another YEAR...

The epic fantasy series Game of Thrones will return for its six-episode, eighth and final season in 2019.

I think Cersei expresses exactly how I feel about that in the image above.

Let it Snow

 photo 60a88d70-35c4-4e0b-8341-b77054f88e23_zpsd2601iqj.jpg

Seth Myers invited Jon Snow, from Game of Thrones, to a dinner party and, surprisingly, things got awkward very quickly...

In his defense, you can't really expect a guy who lives next to a giant ice wall with thieves and murders to readily engage in polite dinner conversation.

However, he definitely needs to work on his Charades game.

I can't wait for the new season of Game of Thrones to start this Sunday!

If you've already watched the latest episode of Game of Thrones and want to see more of that crazy battle with the White Walkers, (not to be confused with Karen Walkers), check out this cool behind-the-scenes video...

That giant was really kicking some White Walker ass!

Bat-tastic!

 photo Screen Shot 2019-01-04 at 6.01.37 PM_zpsevzor1cm.png

It looks like there is a possible series in the future for the CW's Batwoman after all...

Ruby Rose’s debut as Kate Kane during the CW’s Elseworlds event last year was undeniably interesting—but the question it left everyone with was whether the network would ultimately end up moving forward with its potential plans to give the character her own Batwoman spinoff in the future.
Technically, the CW has yet to full-on greenlight the would-be Batwoman series, but the latest bit of news suggests that we’re going to be seeing quite a bit more of Kate’s Gotham in the very near future. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that the CW has given a pilot pickup order for Batwoman with The Vampire Diaries’ Caroline Dries attached as showrunner and Game of Thrones veteran David Nutter as director.

I liked her on the Elseworlds episode and think she could be a fun character to follow. Plus they got a Game of Thrones director for the pilot...that sounds promising.

Time will tell.

Dracarys

 photo danys-3-dragons_zpsytapot3o.gif

This past week's episode of Game of Thrones, titled "Battle of the Bastards", was one of the best of the entire series.

Besides the awesome three dragon attack on the Master's fleet of ships, there was the spectacular battle between Jon Snow and Ramsey to regain control of Winterfell.

It was one of the most realistic and anxiety-ridden battles ever captured before on film.

Check out this behind-the-scenes video on how they accomplished such a cinematic feat and how much planning and work went into creating the battle of the century...

And we also won't ever forget this final shot of the episode...

Pure satisfaction.

Shame of Thrones

 photo 2463006b-1f55-4f6a-bef5-3861f21afc3b_zpsunad5718.jpg

Here is an oddly entertaining (although a bit long..."shame!") Sodastream commercial featuring the Shaming Nun and The Mountain from Game of Thrones...

It seems like they put that poor guy through a lot of pain just for running an errand.

I hope they paid for his dry cleaning.

Beyond the wall

 photo 88677fc9-9119-4dad-86a2-0167a271dc3e_zpsmb61cjuy.jpg

We got another round of Dragon smackdown on Game of Thrones Sunday. Unfortunately, things didn't go as smoothly as the last outing. Still....an amazing scene.

HBO released a new behind-the-scenes video on the making of this episode that is a must-see for anyone who enjoys finding out how they do what they do.

It really is amazing to see the amount of time and creativity that goes into every detail of an episode. They covered a quarry in Iceland in concrete to re-create an ice lake they could use just for the final battle.

Very cool.

The final episode of this season airs on Sunday.

John DOH

 photo 5a075ea5-173b-4ff7-94f0-497d3d968b51_zpscnjvwtz7.jpg

A new HBO promo was released this week for the upcoming season of Game of Thrones and, as most of us figured out, it looks like Jon Snow is not quite as "dead" as everyone thought.

Of course, it's kinda hard for HBO to pretend that he wasn't coming back when there were constant phone pics of him being posted online by fans at various times during location filming the past few months.

As long as he's not coming back as some decomposing zombie-version of himself, I think we're gonna be all good.

Season 6 of Game of Thrones AND the new season of Veep begin this Sunday....EXCITING!!

Here is the final trailer for GOT, if you want a sneak peek of what's coming (besides winter)...

If you want a quick recap of what happened last season on GOT, here is a very entertaining one from io9...

Slap Game

This is a pretty entertaining animated story about how one of the producers of Game of Thrones decided to play the "Slap Game" with Jason Momoa one night at a bar. You can imagine how that might have turned out. Enjoy.

Bastard Effects

Check out this great video on the many special effects used in the recent "Battle of the Bastards" episode of Game of Thrones...

The amount of detail and precision that goes into these kind of shows is amazing. They really do make it all seem so realistic.

Crazy good.

Let the GAMES begin!

 photo a2100574-6198-4b29-97cd-56b01d283e55_zpssfijbl9p.png

Jason Momoa and I (and his pecs) are very excited about the new season of Game of Thrones starting THIS Sunday.

Well, he's as excited as Khal Drogo can be...he was never one for expressing emotions that didn't involve some kind of strategically focused scowl.

He is also, as he Instagramed today, defending Hawaii's Mauna Kea volcano from construction of a giant telescope. Hence...the pic above.

PLUS, from one throne to another...a new season of Veep starts this Sunday night as well.

Sunday night is really starting to become Must See TV for me!

Enjoyable.

Game Changers

 photo 74e47233-d875-4b25-b756-22d74969abad_zpsy0bcjxaq.jpg

The visual effects team behind Game of Thrones has released a new behind-the-scenes look at some of the amazing imagery that they put together for the past season...

It's pretty cool to see how much thought and artistry goes into making a normal landscape or building appear to be so much more in, what is often, just a few seconds of screen time.

Can't wait for Season 6!

The Long Night

I watched Avengers: End Game last night and, although that made for a long night, I was glad I saw it. It wasn't "great", but it was entertaining and I don't need to see it again for a while.

However, this past week's Game of Thrones episode, "The Long Night", was definitely well worth the wait. HBO released a 40-minute behind-the-scenes video on the making of that episode and it's really good.

If you haven't watched this episode yet, don't watch the video. It reveals a lot of plot spoilers and many surprises.

That being said, if you did watch it and enjoyed it...definitely check it out.

Those kids are very good at what they do.
