The Royal Wedding

Photobucket

Considering all the relentless media coverage the past few months, the actual event today really turned out to be a lot more informal than I imagined...

Cinemagraphs

Photobucket

There is something really beautiful and haunting about these photos.

A little about the GIF's (not flash) and their creators...

"We wanted to tell more of a story than a single still frame photograph but didn't want the high maintenance aspect of a video. Primarily, Beck shoots the photos and Burg applies the motion-graphics magic in what they describe as "a highly collaborative process" that can take several hours of manual editing in order to breathe the whisper of life into each image."

Photobucket

I think it adds an interesting dimension and emotion to a photo and, with the stillness of the rest of the image, it almost feels like you've somehow captured a "moment" in time right before the world just...stopped.

They also remind me of the paintings hanging in Hogwarts in the Harry Potter books/movies.

Tina Fey Interview

I'm really enjoying this series of exclusive interviews that Google has been doing lately. Here is the latest one with the hilarious Tina Fey talking about her new book, Bossy Pants.

I love how awkward the guy looks when he asks Tina questions, then doesn't seem to know how to respond to her quick-witted answers. Like when he asked her "What are some of the differences between male and female comedy writers?", to which she responds...

"Men go around the office pretending to rape each other all the time. Women never do that."

I enjoy her so.

Rolling in the peep

You know how much I love me some Adele.

Well, I also enjoy this parody of her song that focuses on the Angry Birds app that all the kids are playing.

Hammer time

The Thor marketing team has created a pretty spot-on recreation of last year's little Darth Vader Super Bowl ad, with one little difference...

Hilarious.

Here is the original Volkswagen commercial with wee Vader.

Break out the Bolle...

Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders will return for a new series of Absolutely Fabulous, the BBC has confirmed.

The pair will reprise their much loved roles as Patsy and Edina for a three episode run of the hit show – the first new shows for six years.

Absolutely Fabulous was first broadcast in 1992 and ran for three series and a two-part special until 1996. It returned for two more series and another two specials between 2001 and 2004, with a Comic Relief edition on BBC1 in 2005.

It's odd that they're only doing three episodes...maybe they'll crank out a couple more once they get started. I'd much rather see the original cast than some horrible remake anyway.

Cheers!

There it is.

He Warbles

Photobucket

Darren Criss made the cover of Billboard Magazine this week, just in time for the new episode of Glee airing tonight. In the interview, he talks about how much he enjoys working on the show, his Harry Potter: The Musical past, and the upcoming Warblers CD.

He was also spotted this past weekend at the Coachella Music Festival...

Nice....bandana.

Monkey business

Photobucket

The first trailer for the Planet of the Apes prequel, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, was released last week.

It doesn't look awful.

I bet it's only a matter of time before Apple releases an "Angry Apes" app.

Try saying that three times fast...

The journey begins...again

Photobucket

Peter Jackson started filming the new Hobbit movies a couple weeks ago and, as part of his journey, has decided to shoot video blogs along the way to document the process of making the new two-part movie. He posted his first one, documenting the first day of shooting, on his Facebook page yesterday and, if you enjoyed the Lord of the Rings movies, you're gonna love this!

Photobucket

You get to see some very detailed shots/tours of the sets, costumes, props, new actors rehearsing (Ian McKellan, Gandalf, is also there), and much more. All of the actors above are returning (well, Orlando Bloom hasn't been "officially" announced, but the rumor-mill has all but confirmed it) as well as Hugo Weaving as the leader of the Elves. So there should be a lot of really cool stuff to see as things progress over the next couple of years.

I highly recommend enlarging the video to full screen when watching.

This is crazy exciting!

Rolling in the Stone

Photobucket

Adele is looking mighty lovely on the cover of the new Rolling Stone...

The British soul singer discusses a defining romantic relationship, her childhood and reveals that she doesn't worry much about her fluctuating weight. "My life is full of drama and I won't have time to worry about something as petty as what I look like," she tells Rolling Stone contributing editor Touré. "I don't like going to the gym. I like eating fine foods and drinking nice wine. Even if I had a really good figure, I don't think I'd get my tits and ass out for no one."

If only Mariah Carey would take that last sentence to heart.

They do have a point

Photobucket

It seems that the latest body modification trend amongst the kids these days is not Botox or tattoos, but having their ears sculpted into points...

The latest shocking trend? Ear sculpting! Why is this bizarre practice getting so popular? According to Dr. Lajos Nagy, a New York plastic surgeon, "Sculpted ears not only enhance the attractiveness of the face, but also improve the experience of listening to music."

Here is a news segment on it from a local news show...

Honestly, I think it's kind of cool.

Of course the risks, procedure, and healing process sound very painful (one of the many reasons I won't get a tattoo) and it could certainly hinder someone from getting a job in a very corporate environment.

But, cosmetically and aesthetically, I think they might actually look great on some people.

I have a big/long head, so the smaller pointed ears probably wouldn't work on me. But, if I knew that it wouldn't affect me or my family in any negative way, I'd definitely get my ears reshaped more like Vulcan ears.

Photobucket

And I'd probably do the eyebrows too.

I'm not kidding.

Grampires

Funny or Die shows us the sequel to When Harry Met Sally, with a more contemporary storyline that goes along with the popular vampire trend these days. Watch Billy Crystal and Helen Mirren in "When Sharon Bit Harry"...

Ironically, it would likely do pretty well at the box office if they actually made it.

Betty White and Abe Vigoda are probably already attached to it...

Good luck getting through airport security in that outfit.

Thor flaunts it

Photobucket

Chris Hemsworth, who played Kirk's father in the reboot of Star Trek...

Photobucket

Is on the cover of Flaunt Magazine this month discussing his upcoming movie Thor. In the article he talks about how he thought he bulked up too much for his role in the film.

Photobucket

I'd say if Thor had a swimmer's build instead, he'd be much less intimidating and, likely, wouldn't be able to lift his mighty hammer.

Photobucket

So to speak.

Green Piece

Photobucket

From Wonder Woman last week, to the upcoming Green Lantern movie...there seems to be a lot of super-folks in the news lately. To be honest, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern were my two favorite comic book characters growing up...so it's kind of exciting.

This past week at WonderCon, fans were treated to new posters and four minutes of footage from the Green Lantern movie. Check it out...

Overall, I think it's all starting to look pretty cool.

I'm trying to keep my hopes low, but my inner-geek is a wee bit excited for this to come out.
