All good things

 photo Screen Shot 2019-07-31 at 7.29.28 PM_zpsg2iurl3u.png

The final episode of Agents of Shield has been shot and the cast was released today. I've watched all seven seasons and, although there were a few weak storylines, I've really enjoyed this show and will miss it after the final season airs next year.

Make it Chateau!

 photo Screen Shot 2019-07-30 at 6.57.51 PM_zpsqzd3n6sg.png

It seems you can now pair the upcoming Star Trek: Picard with his signature wine...

Château Picard in Saint-Estèphe, France had actually been making wine in Bordeaux long before those fictional Picards showed up in La Barre. But now it’s teamed up with CBS and Wines That Rock to bring you an official version of the wine that made the name of the Enterprise captain’s family, ever since the vineyard was first glimpsed in The Next Generation’s fourth season.

Being made to tie in, of course, with the upcoming Star Trek: Picard—which sees Jean-Luc retire from Starfleet and attempt to follow in his brother’s footsteps, overseeing the family’s wine-making business—the 2016 wine is an 85 percent Cabernet Sauvignon and 15 percent Merlot blend. Really, what you’re paying for here is the fact the bottle also replicates the label seen in the first Picard teaser, so it really is like owning your very own Picard-made wine, a few centuries earlier than you should.

To boot, alongside the Picard wine, there will also be a 2017 vintage United Federation of Planets wine, a Zinfandel produced not by Château Picard, but Dry Creek & Russian River Valleys in Sonoma County, California.

It sure beats Earl Grey, hot.

Devil!

Well, it looks like Will and Grace won't be coming back after this next season...

Will & Grace is coming to an end. After an 11-season, 246-episode run, the series will end with the upcoming season (the revival’s third and 11th overall) in 2020.

“We think of the Will & Grace’ reboot episodes the way Karen Walker thinks of martinis – 51 is not enough, 53 is too many,” added executive producers Max Mutchnick, David Kohan and James Burrows. “That is why, after consulting with the cast, we all have decided this will be the final season of ‘Will & Grace.’

“In 2016, Bob Greenblatt came to us with the idea of doing a 10-episode reboot of ‘Will & Grace.’ They say you can’t go home again, but we did. And now, three seasons and 52 episodes later, we’re even more proud of something we never thought we’d get a chance to do again. We have had a once-in-a-lifetime experience twice. And for that, we owe a double debt of gratitude to NBC, this show’s supportive and caring home since day one.”

“The hardest part about making this decision is saying goodbye to our outstanding production team and crew who, over two decades, brought passion and artistry to every department. If we had just one more season, we would have learned their names. So, thank you Handlebar Mustache, Cheese Lady, and Cargo Shorts #1 – #12. We will always think of you as family."

“And finally, our deepest gratitude goes to each and every ‘Will & Grace’ fan across the world. It was a privilege to make you laugh.”

I was really happy to see this show back and enjoyed watching it and the characters each week.

I'm bummed that it's ending.

Super.

Rutger Hauer

 photo R_zpsssmng4no.jpg

Sad news today...

Rutger Hauer, a rugged Dutch actor who played Nazis, action heroes and bloodsucking vampires, but who was best known as the android outlaw in the science-fiction thriller “Blade Runner,” died July 19 at his home in Beetsterzwaag, a village in the Netherlands. He was 75.

He won a Golden Globe for best supporting actor for “Escape From Sobibor,” a 1987 TV movie about an uprising at a Nazi death camp — he played the Jewish hero, against type — and in 2005 was a morally corrupt Catholic cardinal in “Sin City” and a greedy Wayne Enterprises executive in “Batman Begins.”

Mr. Hauer also starred in the 1985 medieval fantasy “Ladyhawke,” alongside Matthew Broderick and Michelle Pfeiffer; played a vampire king in the 1992 movie “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”; and ruled a supernatural tribe in the HBO series “True Blood.”

But Mr. Hauer, who described himself as “a very nonviolent person,” soon returned to the menacing characters that made him famous. He starred as an SS officer in the TV movie “Fatherland” (1994), was a vampire in the TNT miniseries “Salem’s Lot” (2004, adapted from a Stephen King novel) and played a bloodthirsty businessman in “The Sisters Brothers” (2018), a Western starring John C. Reilly and Joaquin Phoenix.

“It’s so much fun to playfully roam into the dark side of the soul and tease people,” Mr. Hauer told the Associated Press in 1987. “If you try to work on human beings’ light side, that’s harder. What is good is hard. Most people try to be good all their lives. So you have to work harder to make those characters interesting.”

He was great in Blade Runner and many other movies and TV shows.

He will be missed.

The Boys

 photo b_zpsn2ahrc5s.jpg

The final trailer for Amazon's The Boys was released today...

This looks like it's going to be a lot of fun. I like that it's regular people getting back at super heroes who have a bit too much attitude and no regard for regular folks.

I might just need to get Amazon Prime one of these days.

The series premieres this Friday July 26th.

Picard trailer

The first trailer for Star Trek: Picard was released this weekend and, besides looking awesome, it also featured another familiar Star Trek character...

 photo Screen Shot 2019-07-22 at 7.30.49 PM_zpsnkt3d1hg.png

Seven of Nine!!

She was one of my favorite characters on Star Trek: Voyager and I'm REALLY excited that she will be on this show as well.

I may have to break my no-paying-for-CBS All Access stand I took when Star Trek: Discovery was put there.

We shall see how I feel when this comes out early next year.

The first trailer for Netflix's The Witcher was released today...

I'm definitely going to watch this! It gets released later this year.

Can't wait!

Jellicle

The first trailer for the movie Cats was released today...

It certainly looks like the stage play. People dancing around dressed like like cats and singing.

Maybe kids will enjoy it.

We'll find out when it opens on December 20th.

The King's Man

 photo K_zpsfqpvi1bj.jpg

The first trailer for The King's Man was just released...

It looks pretty good and very similar to the other two Kingsman movies (I enjoyed both of them).

Hopefully this prequel will be as fun as the others when it opens on February 14th.

Fancy Pants

 photo Screen Shot 2019-07-16 at 7.21.31 PM_zpsr3zanh3k.png

It appears that Supergirl is ditching the skirt for some pants in the upcoming season.

So, there's that.

I'd rather they ditched the Lex Luthor storyline.

Daddy Issues

 photo Screen Shot 2019-07-11 at 8.19.47 PM_zpseo2jiwvw.png

Uh, if Jason Momoa's body is considered a "Dad Bod", the rest of us should just wear Mumus and call it a day.

Engaged

 photo P_zpspemgtuhw.jpg

A new poster for the upcoming Picard series was released and, it appears, he now has a dog named "Number One" (likely after his old First Officer, Commander Riker).

It is a much better choice than calling the dog "Number Two".

The new series will air on CBS All Access sometime early next year.

A little less Horror

 photo Screen Shot 2019-07-09 at 7.29.20 PM_zpsb4jii8qb.png

Sarah Paulson is stepping back a bit from the next American Horror Story series...

Variety has learned from sources that Paulson will not appear in a significant role in the FX anthology series’ upcoming ninth season, which is titled “American Horror Story: 1984.” Paulson has appeared in all eight of the preceding seasons of the hit series, usually in a major role. It is possible Paulson could appear in a cameo.

Paulson is currently filming the upcoming FX series “Mrs. America,” about the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment. She will continue working with Murphy on the upcoming Netflix series “Ratched,” which tells the origin story of the notorious Nurse Ratched from “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” That series has received a two-season commitment.

I wasn't planning on watching the next season anyway, so that just helps seal the deal for me.

I enjoy her in anything she's in, so I'm glad that she's keeping busy with all of the other projects. I'm sure she'll be a great Nurse Ratched.

Well, well

A new trailer for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil was released today...

It actually looks pretty good and it's also got Michelle Pfeiffer in it, which is a nice bonus.

I loved the first one and can't wait until this one when it comes out on October 18th.

Twice the Dannys

 photo j_zpspu8cesmj.jpg

The first trailer for Jumanji: The Next Level was just released...

I still haven't seen the first movie, but this one might be worth watching if, for nothing else, Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart "playing" Danny DeVito and Danny Glover.

Their impressions are pretty funny.

Plus, Nick Jonas is also back for this one.

 photo n_zps49zyzao7.jpg

That also helps.

We'll find out how this one does once it opens on December 13th.

The Witching Hour

The first poster and a couple of new photos of Henry Cavill as Geralt in the the upcoming The Witcher TV series on Netflix were released today.

He looks very Legolas-y.

They had me at Henry Cavill.

The series is supposed to premiere sometime early next year on Netflix.
