Shazam!!

Dwayne Johnson will soon be part of the DC Movieverse…

Despite saying just two weeks ago that he couldn’t decide between playing the titular Shazam or his arch-enemy Black Adam, actor Dwayne Johnson took to Twitter today to announce that he will be playing Black Adam in the upcoming film. 

Originally Teth-Adam of Kahndaq, the character first appeared in Marvel Family #1 in 1945 and has gone on to be both a villain and an anti-hero throughout his history. The character has powers comparable to that of Shazam, including flight, strength, agility, lightning manipulation, as well as magic. Johnson has been in talks to star in a DC film for many years at this point, and earlier this year hinted that Black Adam was one of his favorite characters.



If anyone was born to play a superhero (even a bad guy)…it's Dwayne Johnson.

Dwayne Johnson seems to be recovering just fine after his hernia surgery yesterday.

If I was the doctor, I'd be especially certain that everything went very well, just to avoid a "Hulk SMASH!" scenario if it didn't.

Here is a pic of Dwayne Johnson as "Roadblock" on his first day of filming the sequel G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation.

He said via Twitter, “1st day of shooting. 110 degrees. Bring It.”

I wonder if people could smell that the Rock was cooking?

Twit Pics

Kellan Lutz tweeted a pic of himself from the Hercules movie that he is currently filming (which will compete with the one that Dwayne Johnson is also filming now).

I don't think Dwayne has to worry too much about Kellan's version, which I imagine might head direct to OnDemand upon release.



Also, Brian Singer tweeted a pic of a full-size Sentinel that will be featured in his upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Those would be a huge help in the fall when the gutters need to be cleaned out.

A new poster and trailer for Dwayne Johnson's Hercules was just released and it's looking….exactly how you'd expect it to look.



I still haven't seen the earlier Kellan Lutz version, which got less than stellar reviews.

Although I really do enjoy Dwayne and will likely see it, I'm usually not all that interested in these kinds of movies.

They tend to be a bit too stabby for me.

Mental Floss

It looks like Dwayne Johnson has a new movie coming out next year for Disney (of course) where he gets wrangled into taking over for the Tooth Fairy for a week.

I hope they let the public know what week that will be...

I'll need time to get a pair of plyers and some fresh bed linens ready.

Hopefully it'll be at least as entertaining as this Stuart "MadTV" sketch with Susan Sarandon as the infamous dental damsel.

These boys are locked up in jail. Good to spend time; talk with them. 

Reminded them that I was once in their shoes - arrested multiple times as a teen (fighting, theft; stupid shit). 

Told em if I can make it, so can you. Challenged them to commit themselves to becoming better. They did. This was a good day. #Commitment

I don't know how he has time to do stuff like this in-between all the movies and TV appearances he seems to do on a regular basis.

I know that this is gonna be a very silly movie. But, I will likely watch it anyway.

Dwayne Johnson has started to Tweet some pics of the sets and costumes from the Hercules remake that he is currently shooting...

Besides sitting in awe, it looks like he also sits in very short pants.

Well, G.I. Joe: Retaliation opened today. I didn't see the first one, but this one looks like it has a much better...plot.



There's Channing Tatum...he was also in the first movie.



There's Bruce Willis...he wasn't in the first one.



And there's Dwayne Johnson. He wasn't in the first one either.

I can't explain it, but for some unknown reason I feel like I should probably go see this movie.



I'll see it for...the children.

We really need to do more for the children.

Watchmen

I don't know anything about this comic book series, other than hearing the name mentioned from time to time in passing.

However, I saw the trailer for the new movie and it looks pretty cool, I must say.

It's directed by the same guy who directed "300", which, visually, was amazing.

So, it'll be another big production that I'm looking forward to in the coming year (like "Star Trek", The Day the Earth Stood Still" and anything with Dwayne Johnson, of course).

Looks like cool effects AND Kathy Bates is in it too...

Summer Sun

Here are trailers for two movies that look pretty interesting for very different reasons. The first is the Fast and the Furious 6, which brings Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson back together again, along with the rest of their motley speed-zone-ignoring friends.



I don't care what anyone says, I enjoy these movies. If nothing else, it is mindless well-edited action and lovely visuals (including the scenery).



I also watched this trailer for Perfect Parents, with Naomi Watts and Robin Wright. It's about two mothers who fall in love...with each other's sons. It opens April 3rd.



I have a feeling that these Cougars are either going to be very sad or VERY happy at the end of this movie.

Just a guess....

The first full trailer for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was released today...



I have to be honest, as much as I love me some Dwayne Johnson and Nick Jonas, I had no desire to see this movie when I heard it was being made. It just seemed like a cheap reach (with Robin Williams having died) to make a quick buck off of the previous film.

However...this trailer looks fun and actually made me laugh a couple of times.

Well played, marketing folks.

We'll see how I feel about it when it opens on December 20th.

Dynamic Duo

The first trailer for the Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw was released today...



I like Dwayne Johnson, Jason Stratham, and Idris Elba and, although this looks very cheesy, it also looks like it might be a lot of fun to watch.

We'll see how things go when it opens on August 2nd.

Twice the Dannys

The first trailer for Jumanji: The Next Level was just released...



I still haven't seen the first movie, but this one might be worth watching if, for nothing else, Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart "playing" Danny DeVito and Danny Glover.

Their impressions are pretty funny.

Plus, Nick Jonas is also back for this one.



That also helps.

We'll find out how this one does once it opens on December 13th.
