Chit Chat

When technologies meet...

"You are a meanie."

Chatbots get a little bitchy when they're irritated.

I like it.

Hooray for Bollywood

Photobucket

Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley have started filming three new specials of Absolutely Fabulous in the UK. It's the first time since 2004 that they've gotten together to play Patsy and Edina.

Jennifer Saunders had this to say:

"Viewers in the US have been very kind to the show over the years and we are very happy to return on not one but two US channels at once, BBC America and Logo," Saunders said. "We fully intend to party like it's 1991. When we started filming in West London, it was like time had stood still. It was raining. Nevertheless we are so happy to be working for an audience that has grown just a tiny bit older, like us, but is still willing to let us fall over on TV in the name of PR."

Photobucket

"I can divulge that all of us have got a bit older, though we will be doing our best not to show it, and thankfully none of us have got any wiser. All of the originals who are back together again are still truly absolutely fabulous and we hope that the new adventures of Edina, Patsy, Saffy, Bubble and Mother, plus a few surprising guests, will entertain both our tried and trusted US fans as well as gain us some new friends. We are hugely grateful to BBC America and Logo for welcoming us all back with open arms."

Exciting!

G.I. Johnson

Photobucket

Here is a pic of Dwayne Johnson as "Roadblock" on his first day of filming the sequel G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation.

He said via Twitter, “1st day of shooting. 110 degrees. Bring It.”

I wonder if people could smell that the Rock was cooking?

The other Franco

James Franco's younger brother, Dave, seems to be making his way into the acting world too. He has done a few Funny of Die videos that are pretty hilarious and likely NSFW.

In this one, Dave's girlfriend breaks up with him and, well, the title pretty much says it all...

This second one is a "You're so Hot" contest between two guys to see who will laugh first. The language is filthy, so mind your surroundings and enjoy...

I imagine that auditions for phone sex operators must go something like that.

Shaken up

Everyone at the office (and the entire east coast) seemed to feel the earthquake yesterday, except for me. Of course, I am so used to small quakes from my years in California...I probably just didn't notice this wee shaker.

But this was the first one for many people and it's been fun reading all the reactions. I thought this banner was really funny.

Photobucket

The "devastation" from our quake...one plastic chair tipped over.

We can rebuild.

Free Speech

Improv Everywhere set up a bullhorn on the streets of NYC with instructions for people to just say something nice.

Great to see so many smiles and well-wishers throughout the day.

However, you know there had to be some great outtakes from the local crazies and asshats wandering the streets.

Now that's the video I really want to see.

Full House Reunion

Well, sort of...

Bob Saget gets a first-person demo of John Stamos' "Guide to Cuddling"...

Uncle Jesse must have several paintings aging for him in an attic somewhere in Malibu.

The Olsen Twins probably take turns guarding them.

Wakey Wakey

Photobucket

Here is the new trailer for Underworld: Awakening.

Surprisingly, I really enjoy this series and am happy to see Kate Beckinsale back in this one after she skipped the the previous chapter.

Hopefully this one won't suck.

That would bite.

I'll be here all week long...tip the waiters, try the veal.

Anderson Pooper

Seems that Anderson Cooper got a case of the giggles last night on his show as he was discussing Gerard Depardieu's recent peeing-on-the-plane incident...

"[The cleaning crew] should thank their lucky stars it wasn't Depar-two."

That would be kinda hard to say with a straight face.

Especially for Anderson.

Country Girl

Well, Lady Gaga has a variety of new looks and, this time, a bit of a country sound going on for her next single. This is the new video for "You and I"...

She's playing a man, a robot, and a mermaid.

Now, if they would all just go into a bar together...

Tiny Kingdoms

There is something surreal about watching tilt-shift photography videos of places. It really makes the locations look like something out of a strange children's book.

Here is one of Chicago...

And one of California...

Oddly fascinating and cool.

Emmy battle

Photobucket

Kathy Griffin's My Life on the D-List is up against Hoarders at the Emmys this year. When Hoarders created a "vote for us" promo using quotes from Kathy about how much she loved the show (which she does), Kathy responded to their clever ad with one of her own.

Photobucket

Asked why she should win over Hoarders, Kathy said...

"I went to Wasilla, knocked on Sarah Palin's door with Levi Johnston, marched on Washington to repeal DADT ['Don't Ask, Don't Tell'], had a pelvic exam on camera, entered the underground world of toddler pageants (where I am still the reigning Little Miss Mature Lady Grand Supreme BTW) and got acting lessons from Liza f---ing Minnelli," she said. "Hoard that, bitches!"

Little Miss Mature Lady Grand Supreme...that's hilarious.

Captain's Log Flume

Photobucket

It looks like Star Trek is getting the theme park treatment...in Jordan.

After more than 40 years, we finally have the green light on a Star Trek theme park, thanks to King Abdullah of Jordan (who once was an extra on an episode of Star Trek: Voyager when he was still a Prince). And it only cost a measly $1.5 billion to do it.

The project is expected to be completed by 2014, and will be the crown jewel of the planned Red Sea Astrarium resort in the coastal city of Aqaba. The whole thing will have 17 entertainment areas and 4 hotels on 184 acres of land, and all powered by renewable energy.

Hopefully when it's finished, they'll have developed working Transporters so that all of us can just beam over there without having to pay a million dollars for a plane ticket.

I'm sure that's part of their plan.

Money Matters

This video explains the country's debt issues better than anything I've seen or read lately.

It certainly doesn't make you feel any better about the situation....so, drink up everyone!

Bachelorette Pad

Photobucket

Now that she's single, Susan Sarandon has purchased a $1.75 million dollar one-bedroom penthouse in New York's trendy Village area.

Photobucket

I wonder if she needs a house-sitter to watch those plants?

If so...I'm in.

See no evil

This trailer for the upcoming alien-invasion movie, The Darkest Hour, looks pretty cool. It would be a lot harder to fight the aliens if you couldn't actually see them....

I'm stocking up on batteries and light bulbs....just in case.

Monkey Business

Photobucket

I saw Rise of the Apes this weekend and was very pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. It was so much better than the horrible Tim Burton remake a few years ago. It also did really well at the Box Office...

Fueled by great word of mouth, 20th Century Fox's Rise of the Planet of the Apes opened to $54 million at the domestic box office—$20 million more than the best forecast. The pic easily placed No. 1.

Photobucket

Unfortunately, The Change-up wasn't as lucky...

Universal's R-rated Ryan Reynolds-Jason Bateman body switching comedy The Change-Up, didn’t fare as well, grossing a soft $13.5 million and coming in No. 4.

I do like both of the actors, but body-switching movies are rarely done well and this one just didn't look all that funny. If the trailer had been half as entertaining and honest as these press-outtakes...

"Body switching is a pretty stupid f*cking idea, but the movie's funny. If they go they'll laugh their d*ck off."

That should have been the only copy on the movie poster.

Super Friday

Photobucket

The first official photo of Henry Cavill as Superman in Zach Snyder's Man of Steel was released yesterday, followed quickly by the first photo of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle (Catwoman) in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Rises.

Photobucket

Henry definitely looks like a Superman.

Anne looks like...a girl on a very big motorcycle.

Photobucket

Hopefully they'll Pfeiffer Anne up her up for the next photo.

G'day, Jake

Jake Gyllenhaal is featured on the cover of Australian GQ this month.

Photobucket

He was also featured swimming somewhere a few days ago...

Nice...trunks.

MTV turns 30

They went from 24 hours of non-stop music television...to showing no music videos and, instead, introducing us to the likes of Snooki.

I don't really want my MTV anymore.

Closet Talk

Photobucket

I love me some Kristen Wiig from SNL and I found this really funny interview of her from 7 Minutes in Heaven, an online show where the host, Mike O'Brien, chats with celebrities...in a closet.

She slays me.
