Topsy Turvey
This new movie Upside Down looks pretty amazing. I am really looking forward to seeing it!
Here is the latest trailer (embiggen the player to see in full screen):
Kirsten Dunst seems to have a thing for making out with people who are....
I'm sensing a pattern...or a fetish.

Sha-zaam!
It looks like Jim Nabors finally took the plunge and came out at the same time...
Jim Nabors, forever known as the star of 1964-69's Gomer Pyle, USMC, married his male partner of nearly 40 years, Stan Cadwallader, on Jan. 15, the retired performer and Hawaii resident told Hawaii News Now this week.
"I'm 82 and he's in his 60s, and so we've been together for 38 years and I'm not ashamed of people knowing," Nabors told the news service. "It's just that it was such a personal thing, I didn't tell anybody."
I bet Aunt Bee would have baked a nice pie or cake for the festivities.

Downton Sadly
As depressing as Downton Abbey was this past Sunday, I think the most devastating part was watching the Dowager Countess (the amazing Maggie Smith) as she walked slowly across the entryway, trying desperately to control her emotions before seeing the family in the other room.
Heartbreaking.

Trek Wars
It looks like J. J. Abrams is going to take over another beloved Sci-Fi franchise...Star Wars.
J.J. Abrams will direct the next "Star Wars" film for Disney, taking stewardship of one of Hollywood's most iconic and lucrative film franchises.
Lucasfilm Chief Kathleen Kennedy has been courting Abrams, one of the most successful directors and producers in Hollywood -- and a man beloved by fanboys. He runs one of the industry's top production companies, Bad Robot, and created or co-created television franchises like "Lost," "Fringe" and "Alias." He has also directed film spectacles "Mission: Impossible III," "Star Trek" and "Super 8."
Though he has several producing jobs in front of him, Abrams had been uncommitted as a director. He will have to jump right into "Star Wars," which Disney has slated for a 2015 release.
Honestly, I think he'll do as good a job as anyone else. I loved what he did with the updated Star Trek and he wasn't even a big fan of that show.
He loves Star Wars.
I'm in.

Conrad Bain and Dear Abby
Very sad news yesterday...
Conrad Bain, the easygoing TV star who played the Park Avenue father on the 1978-85 sitcom Diff'rent Strokes, died in his hometown of Livermore, Calif., on Monday. He was 89.
He also played the argumentative neighbor on the 1972-78 hit show Maude.
I used to watch that show all the time growing up. It's sad that only Todd Bridges is still alive out of this cast. Dana Plato and Gary "What you talkin' bout, Willis?" Coleman past away several years ago.
He will be missed.
Also, more sad news today...
Pauline Friedman Phillips, who under the name of Abigail Van Buren, wrote the long-running "Dear Abby" advice column that was followed by millions of newspaper readers throughout the world, has died. She was 94.
Phillips' column competed for decades with the advice column of Ann Landers, written by her twin sister, Esther Friedman Lederer. Their relationship was stormy in their early adult years, but later they regained the close relationship they had growing up in Sioux City, Iowa.
Those two gals gave a lot of people great advice.

Sydney knows
Although there was a lot of focus in the news yesterday about Jodi Foster's coming out speech at the Golden Globes Sunday night, there was also a much quieter closet door re-opened in the media for actor Victor Garber (he of Alias and Titanic fame)...
Garber -- best known for his roles in the movies Argo, Legally Blonde, Milk, The First Wives Club and Sleepless in Seattle -- addressed his homosexuality during the TV Critics Association Press Tour in Pasadena, Calif. in early January to GreginHollywood.
Hernandez asked Garber about a Wikipedia entry that claimed he lives in New York City with artist and model Rainer Andreesen. "I don't really talk about it but everybody knows," the 63-year-old actor said of his relationship with Andreesen, a fellow Canadian. "He's going to be out here with me for the SAG Awards.
"My companion Rainer Andreesen and I have been together almost 13 years in Greenwich Village," he said. "We both love New York."
I have always enjoyed him in anything he does. He's a great actor and entertainer. Alias was one of my favorite shows and he was great as Sydney's kick-ass father. I also enjoy him on Web Therapy with Lisa Kudrow.
They are quite a handsome couple...lucky bastards.
Bitter party of one....my table is ready.

Assisted living
This video of an adult dog trying to help a little puppy figure out how to get down the stairs is incredibly adorable....
This next video of a cadet releasing a trapped mouse back out into the wild starts out adorable, then takes an unexpected turn...
Nature can be so harsh.

2012 Oscar Nominations
Well, the Oscar Nominations were announced this morning and there really wasn't anything shocking, other than the fact that Kathryn Bigelow and Ben Affleck were not nominated for Best Director (although their pictures were).
Also, surprisingly...there were no nominations for any of the ladies of the very popular The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (which I am going to watch tomorrow night), especially Dame Maggie Smith.
How does she feel about that?
I agree with her.
Here is the full list of nominations:

Can Handle The Truth
Jimmy Kimmel started off his new time slot (opposite Leno) last night with another edition of "Celebrities Read Mean Tweets" and, like the others, they are awkwardly hilarious.
"Kirstie Alley is a Dirty Whore. There I said it" was my favorite.
I give the celebs props for participating with a sense of fun.
Here are the other two segments...one of which, has my second favorite Tweet: So gross and funny!
"Is it my turn to punch @AndyDick until there are bones in his stool?"
So gross and, yet, funny!

Geo Picks
National Geographic picked the winners from their 2012 photography competition and they are all pretty amazing....
Larry's King's pic might not be an "official winner", but it always will be to me.

The Countess returns
The third season of Downton Abbey started airing last night. It's on my DVR, so I plan to watch it this week.
I have really missed the Dowager Countess (Ms. Maggie Smith) and am really looking forward to her trading barbs with Shirley Maclaine this season.
Let's get ready to RUMBLE!
