SNL hasn't been consistently funny (other than "Weekend Update") in a LONG time, but this past weekend they did a sketch that, honestly, had me laughing so hard that I had to re-watch it several times to make sure I hadn't missed anything.
OMG...the fingernails on everyone!
Adele obviously enjoyed the sketch as well, judging by her post...
Of course, that was the only funny sketch in the entire show, but it was WELL worth the wait!
I know some people are getting tired of hearing Adele's "Hello" song and video...
But, not me.
I bought the CD last week and plan to listen to it on my long drive home to see the family and, if anyone starts fighting, I'm gonna play "Hello" and just sit back and watch the nails, blonde hair and fur coats take over everyone and..enjoy.
Miss Shirley Bassey rocked the Oscars last night with her song...as did Adele, who also won an Oscar for her song Skyfall.
Atta girl!
I also enjoyed the parody song "We Saw Your Boobs" from the opening of the show. I thought Seth MacFarlane did a fine job hosting and really don't think he is deserving of all of the bad press about it.
Guess haters gotta hate...
If you want a peek at how the backstage interviews go, check out this one with Jennifer Lawrence, where some idiot reporters ask her some very stupid questions, including about how she felt when she fell. Her reactions and responses are hilariously honest and entertaining!
Also for his special post-Oscar show, Jimmy Kimmel created a "sequel" to his unmade film Movie: The Movie, called Movie: The Movie 2V. It's pretty funny and has a lot of stars in it. The best part, besides "Release the TATUM!", is Matt Damon's green-screen bit with the "sandwich".
James Corden did another one of his awesome Carpool Karaoke videos, this time with Adele and it's a LOT of fun and just makes you smile which, after this sad week of celebrity deaths (David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Dan Haggerty, and Celine Dion's husband Rene...ALL from cancer), is VERY much needed.
22-year-old Grammy winner, Adele, recently debuted a new single off of her upcoming album (due in January) on the UK talk show Later...with Jools Holland.
It's a beautiful song...
She sings with the emotional heart and soul of someone three times her age.
Adele announced on Facebook today that her new album, 25, comes out on November 20th.
"My last record was a break-up record and if I had to label this one I would call it a make-up record. I'm making up with myself. I'm making up for lost time." Speaking of her breakup record, 21 spent 24 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart -- the most weeks atop the list for any album by a woman. The album has been on the chart every week of its release: 243 weeks and counting (through the Oct. 31-dated chart).
21 has sold 11.2 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music, which makes it the tenth-largest selling album since Nielsen began tracking sales in 1991.
I'm really looking forward to this release...it'll be nice to have some new music from her after all of these years.
And, if this first song/video release of Hello is any indication of what we should expect, then BRING IT ON!
Adele shot the video and recorded this live in her own home. It's how we all imagine we sound at home singing when no one is around to tell us otherwise.
It's a great track and she's just got one of the most soulful voices out there today.
To help sing in the holiday, enjoy this "All I Want For Christmas" carpool karaoke with Adele, Lady Gaga, Elton John and many more singing to "All I Want For Christmas" by Mariah Carey.
Aretha Franklin, who died Thursday at 76, was a once-in-a-generation singer. She was the Queen of Soul, but she also ventured into — and mastered — virtually every style of music, from jazz and classical to rhythm and blues. She passed away at her home in Detroit. Though her musical contributions were diverse, ranging in tone from spiritual to gaudy, her inimitable singing style came from a single source. She practically grew up in church, and the emotional intensity and personal connection she nurtured there with the music never left her. It informed virtually every one of her 77 top-100 songs, including 21 No. 1 R&B hits. She won 18 Grammy Awards and was the first female artist inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in 1987. Not only was her multi-octave mezzo-soprano an instrument of stunning beauty, range and power, but her piano playing — often in counterpoint to her singing — was just as accomplished. She influenced countless singers — Whitney Houston, Adele, Patti LaBelle, Natalie Cole, Chaka Khan, Mariah Carey, Luther Vandross, Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia. But her legend was forged not just on her ability to hit all the notes and embellish them with astonishing technical flourishes, but also to convey emotional nuance and deep feeling.
She had an amazing career and made such an impact on countless people from all over the world. She will definitely be missed.
Adele is really having a great year and I couldn't be happier for her. She's got one of the most amazing voices out there today and, underneath all of the glitz and glamour, she seems like a very grounded and down-to-earth person.
Billboard recently released a video of one of her earliest performances as she was just getting discovered in the UK in 2008.
She may have just looked like an ordinary gal from anywhere...
