Phone home

It's lunch-lady Gaga.

Photos have recently begun to surface from the new video shoot for Lady Gaga's "Telephone" song with Beyonce. Judging by these pics, it looks like it's gonna be another very technicolor-Gaga extravaganza.

Lady Gaga also joined Beyonce on her last album and video for the song "Videophone" that came out a couple months ago.

As much as I enjoy each of them, I really didn't care for that song or video. I really think that Lady Gaga has the better song and, I'm guessing, a much more enjoyable video. If you haven't seen Beyonce's video, here it is...

Let's hope that Gaga's upcoming "Telephone" video involves more than each of the gals prancing around in left-over Halloween costumes in a generic studio together.

Oh...and here's a pic of Ms. Gaga at the Brit Awards today...

I guess you can have your cake and wear it too.

Here is her performance that night (she won three awards)...

Gagaville

It looks like virtual farmers will soon have more to tend to...

In an unlikely partnership, Zynga announced today that they have partnered with pop sensation Lady Gaga to promote her new album, "Born This Way."

How is this exactly going to work? Well, for one thing Farmville players will be treated to "a Gaga inspired farm in-game, which will showcase Lady Gaga's style and themes from the album and videos... think crystals, unicorns, sheep on motorcycles," Zynga said in the press release. Rewardville will offer ten virtual items across their games for players to obtain.

There's also a couple of contests for Gaga fans, sponsored by Zynga. Seven people a day who buy the Game Cards win a day "On the Set With Gaga" during the artist's next music video shoot, while those who play the special Gaga word of the day on Words With Friends will be entered to win tickets to a concert on Lady Gaga's next tour, plus a signed copy of "Born this Way."

Great....now I've got to try to find someone I can trust to take care of my unicorns when I go out of town.

Someone's at the door

One would think that if the Queen of England were to look out her chamber window and see this at the front gates of the palace...

Her immediate reaction would be something like this...

However, that was not the case at all.

The Queen, evidently a big fan of Lady Gaga, actually invited her to perform at the annual Royal Variety Performance in Blackpool...

Gaga and Miley Cyrus were among the performers who put on a show for Queen Elizabeth II and her husband at Britain's Royal Variety Performance at an opera house in Blackpool, England, on Monday.

The ever-reserved monarch reportedly giggled when Gaga bowed and shook her hand, which is exactly the reaction most would have upon shaking hands with Lady Gaga!

The long red dress and 20-foot long cloak Gaga donned for her audience with Her Majesty looked almost Elizabethan, save for the fact that it was made from synthetic PVC, a material frequently used as the insulation on electrical wires. During Lady Gaga's performance of "Speechless," she sat atop a swing suspended 30 feet in the air as she played a piano held up on giant stilts.

Bette Midler was also in attendance with the other performers.

There was a time, back in the day, when Bette would have been the outlandish dame at a society function.

I guess the disco stick has been passed on to the next generation.

Lady Maria

Photobucket

Remember my post about 10-year old Maria Aragon who uploaded her version of Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" on YouTube and then got a call during a radio interview from Gaga herself? Well, as she promised, Lady Gaga brought Maria up on stage during her recent concert in Canada and the two performed the song together.

Lady Gaga was obviously very affected by the whole experience with Maria.

Very sweet.

Lady Coo Coo

It seems that a UK farmer finds Lady Gaga a bit scary, so he has decided to put that to good use...

Nigel Britten, who is the assistant manager at Whelan Farm, near Warlingham, Surrey, was getting fed up with pigeons munching on his wheat crops and had racked his brains to think of a way to save his livelihood. Then inspiration came to him and his fiancee as they watched Lady Gaga arrive at last Tuesday night's Brit Awards. Mr Britten, 27, said: 'We were laughing at Lady GaGa's outfit and that extraordinary wig and talking about how scary she looked.

"My fiancee Marti joked that I should make a scarecrow which looked like her. I laughed and then it occurred to me it was actually a very good idea...And Mr Britten said that so far, the 7ft tall Lady GaGa scarecrow, complete with shocking white wig made from cotton wool and dress, is keeping birds off his wheat crops which are used to grow Hovis bread. And he said that he thinks the effective design should grace many more fields across the UK."

Here is the dress that gave him the inspiration...

I think it would be much more effective if he also installed sound and had the scarecrow say "Rah, Rah, ah ah ah!" every few minutes.

But, that's just me.

Oh Lady MAC

A fan has created a special Lady Gaga doll based on her recent glamorous Grammy appearance...

There really are some crafty Gaga fans out there with sewing machines.

Also, Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper appeared on "Good Morning America" to promote their MAC Cosmetics AIDS Fund campaign which, so far, has raised over $150 million.

Very cool gals.

Lady Gaga actually seems like the child that Cyndi Lauper would have had back in the "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" days.

Glam squad

Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper are part of a new campaign...

Here's the first image from a M.A.C. Viva Glam cosmetics campaign for Spring 2010 featuring Cyndi Lauper and Lady Gaga. Lauper and Lady Gaga are the newest faces of the M.A.C. AIDS Fund, which has donated over $135 million to fight IV/AIDS since 1994.

"Gaga Lipstick and Viva Glam Cyndi Lipstick, $14 each, will launch in North America on March 18 and globally throughout the month, with 100 percent of the proceeds being donated to the MAC AIDS Fund."

Good gals...good cause.

Good times.

Goo Goo Gaga

This 10 year-old girl took YouTube by storm last week when she posted a video of her playing the piano and singing Lady Gaga's new "Born This Way" song. So much so, that Lady Gaga herself took a personal interest in her and gave the little girl a call on a local radio station.

It obviously made her day and it'll be fun to see if they do actually end up performing together at her concert.

If you didn't see it...here is Maria's video from YouTube.

Maria is a very talented "Little Monster".

Google for Gaga

Here is a fun exclusive interview that Google did recently with Lady Gaga where she answers a variety of questions from her fans and employees of Google, many of whom dressed up in interesting costumes.

Today also happens to be Lady Gaga's 25th Birthday.

I imagine her birthday cake will be far from boring.

Party People

I'm not sure how other cruises work, but this particular ship had at least one or two dances each day, either on the upper deck at night or in one of the lower clubs and, of course, they were all themed. Some people must have received this agenda early, because many had a different creative (and often tiny) outfit for each event.

For instance, there was the "Military-Dog Tag" theme...

Even Starfleet was represented...

I wondered how Bob Barker had been spending his time after he stopped hosting the "Price is Right"...

There was also an "Ever After-Fantasy-Alice In Wonderland-esque" theme...

And, of course, no shortage of "70's-Disco-Tropical" themed gatherings on deck that kept me wondering how many suitcases some people brought onboard just for costumes...

Danny DeVito in the house...or is that Rhea Perlman?

My friend Roland and I threw together what we could to keep up with the kids...

But, we really couldn't begin to compete with most of them. They were obviously professionals.

Lola Falana stopped by...

Dames Edna and Judy Dench mixed and mingled...

Cheech and Chong...

With Gilligan....the Skipper too...

The Millionare....

And his Wife (wives)...

The Movie Star. The Professor...

and MaryAnn...

Here...on Gilligan's Isle!

We even watched a performance by some "nuns" that was suddenly interrupted by "Lady Gaga" (there were a couple of "Gaga-esque" folks on the cruise and no shortage of "Bad Romance" being played, which I enjoyed)...

Basically, any reason to get the kids up on the deck to drink and dance in a festive environment seemed to work for everyone...no matter what you were or weren't wearing.

We did have our second stop in Grand Cayman on Thursday. However, when I saw it from the balcony...it looked like a beachside industrial plant full of construction and smelled like dirty socks. So, after verifying my hunch with some folks already returning from that "paradise", I decided to stay on the ship that day and hang by the pool instead.

The Grand Cayman stop also turned out to be even more unfortunate because one of the guys on the cruise was found dead in his cabin that afternoon.

We were not given a lot of details, but when a 37 year old man suddenly dies on a ship full of late night parties and people who are obviously taking more than prescription medications...well, one does get suspicious. A similar thing happened to a guy I used to work with last year on another cruise with Atlantis, which was very sad.

Just say no, kids.

Tomorrow...we stop in Cozumel, Mexico (which was lovely and didn't smell like feet) and I take a very long bus ride to see the Mayan Ruins at Chitchen Itza.

I wonder if they have a girl from Chitchen Itza who goes walking?
