Wiiging out!

 photo f760c5f6-02ce-489c-8555-150a74eb98e8_zps4jntsvaa.png

It's an interesting choice to have Kristen Wiig playing the main villain, Cheetah, in the next Wonder Woman movie.

I loved the first movie and I do enjoy Kristen Wiig in just about everything, so I'm hopeful that she'll be able to play a convincing bad gal without it being campy/cheesy.

I trust Patty Jenkin's taste, so let's get this movie started!

Who you gonna call?

 photo 075c5f11-0471-4ecd-90d7-d4bda9d6a9fd_zps9ee6a970.png

It appears that the cast of the Ghostbusters remake has been decided...

Sony Pictures and director Paul Feig have found their foursome to reboot the Ghostbusters franchise. Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig are rejoining their Bridesmaids helmer Feig on the pic, with Saturday Night Live castmembers Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones also coming aboard.

We’re hearing the studio is still in negotiations but Feig apparently is confident enough about locking his cast that will fill the iconic roles played by Bill Murray, Dan Ackroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson: The news came via a Feig tweet.

I love me some Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy and Kate McKinnon is always funny on SNL...so this might just be a hoot.

And a hollar.

My Christmas Wiig

Saturday Night Live is giving the hilarious Kristen Wiig her own Christmas special called "SNL Presents: A Very Gilly Christmas" on December 17th at 8:00. Although, Gilly is a funny character, I would have preferred "A Very Target Lady Christmas". That character slays me...

"Claaassic Peg!"

OMG...that particular skit always makes me laugh until I cry every time I see it.

Of course, almost any character she does is funny. I also enjoy the one-upping Penolope. I've known a few people like that in life and wish that they were half as entertaining as she is while they're dominating every conversation.

Gawker has done a whole tribute (with more clips) here, if you'd like to continue smiling with Kristen for a few more minutes of the day.

I highly recommend it.

Trainwreck

A trailer for Amy Schumer's upcoming movie Trainwreck was just released today and, like her TV show, Inside Amy Schumer...it appears to focus on her being drunk and sleeping around...a lot.

I like Amy and Bill Hader (if you haven't seen him in The Skeleton Twins with Kristen Wiig, you should!) and Judd Aptow's movies are usually pretty funny...so it might be worth watching.

If not, I'll just reread one of Chelsea Handler's books and call it even.

Tiny Kingdom

The first full trailer for Alexander Payne's new film, Downsizing was released this morning...

This looks awesome and hilarious. I love Matt Damon and Kristen Wiig and the idea of living better/smaller is something I'm onboard with.

Sign me up!

The movie opens on December 22nd.

Who beefed?

Netflix has released their first full trailer for the upcoming series Wet Hot American Summer and it looks like it could be a hoot and, quite possibly, a hollar...

Netflix has dropped the first full trailer for Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp, the prequel series to the cult hit 2001 pic. The aptly titled eight-episode series starts with the first day of camp in 1981.

We get the first look at new cast additions Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Jon Hamm and Jason Schwartzman along with returning stars from the movie, Elizabeth Banks, H. Jon Benjamin, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper, Janeane Garofalo, Nina Hellman, David Hyde Pierce, Joe Lo Truglio, Ken Marino, AD Miles, Christopher Meloni, Marguerite Moreau, Zak Orth, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Marisa Ryan, Molly Shannon and Michael Showalter.

It's got a pretty amazing cast and I have a feeling hilarity will likely ensue.

I'm in.

Breakfast of Champions

 photo de2a4f2e-a3af-4d0c-be1a-07234dbe5d40_zpsr1wjvkvk.png

When the cast of Wonder Woman: 1984 posed for a random Breakfast Club-like photo, a fan took the photo and created a closer rendition of the original poster to pull it all together.

Here is the original movie poster...

I like that Patty Jenkins (the director) is playing Judd Nelson and I didn't even recognize Kristen Wiig as the Ally Sheedy character.

Just Kidding

This video compilation of the Best of Kristen Wiig is really funny. You forget how many great/hilarious characters she used to do on SNL...

I had forgotten about her Judy Grimes character. It's amazing how fast and clear she can speak her "Just Kidding"s and be so easy to understand.

The dialog is hilarious!

The video doesn't keep up exactly with the audio, so better to just listen to it.

Not a witch

This clip from the latest episode of Saturday Night Live made me laugh out loud.

UPDATE: SNL won't allow embedding of the video anymore. So, click here to see it on YouTube.

"I'm not a witch, but if I am...do you really want to cross me?"

I love Kristen Wiig.

I also hear that Jane Lynch did a really good job hosting this week. So, I just might have to make some quality DVR-time tonight and watch the whole show.

Trailer Tuesday

There are a few trailers for upcoming movies that were released recently that look pretty good, for different reasons.

Enough Said stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus and the late James Gandolfini. I love Julia Louis-Dreyfus (if you haven't seen Veep, you should). Plus it's got Toni Collette and Catherine Keener, also enjoyable. If nothing else, it'll be a good OnDemand feature.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty stars the always-entertaining Ben Stiller and Kristen Wiig. Plus, for some reason, its theme and music resonates emotionally with me like The Tree of Life trailer did.

Diana stars Naomi Watts as Princess Diana and covers her life and affair during her marriage to Prince Charles. It looks pretty interesting and she does look a bit like Diana, so that helps. Plus, it's got Naveen Andrews from Lost playing the doctor. Nice to see him in a feature film now that he's off the island.

Ender's Game released it's first full trailer today and, overall, it looks pretty good as well. Although, it makes me feel old and kind of sad that Harrison Ford, once such an energetic charismatic action hero, is looking/sounding so....old and sad.

I mean, TODAY he even signed on to do Expendables 3...the oddly popular film series where old action heroes prop themselves up for ONE MORE MISSON.

Couldn't he have at least held out for Reds 3? At least those movies are well-written and feature Helen Mirren.

Good golly, Miss Molly!

Photobucket

Congrats to the mulit-talented Melissa McCarthy for her Academy Award nomination for Bridesmaids! She was hilarious in that (and everything she does, including Mike and Molly).

Also congrats to Kristen Wiig for her nomination for writing that movie. I wish she'd show up to the awards show as the Target Lady. I enjoy that character so much.

Whoo Hoo!

Here is a list of all the nominations.

A Deadly Adoption

 photo 102dcdea-b02e-4e2e-9518-2d2ae4f3f331_zps6nzkkjrf.jpg

It appears the April Fool's Day announcement of this Lifetime movie starring Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig was anything but a joke. A Deadly Adoption was actually filmed and will air this Saturday April 20th.

Here is the trailer, which was released today...

It's written by the same people who wrote the IFC soap-opera comedy The Spoils of Babylon, so my guess is that this will be a parody of every Lifetime movie ever made, which could be hilarious.

If it's not a parody...it could be equally hilarious.

Oh, my DVR is set!

Clinton Foundation: Celebrity Division

This new Funny Or Die video reveals some of the "great" ideas that celebrities come up with to help support their favorite candidates. Featuring Matt Damon, Sean Penn, Ben Stiller, Kristen Wiig, Ted Danson, Mary Steenburgen, Jack Black, and Kevin Spacey. Oh, and Bill Clinton...

Bridal Mania

Photobucket

Although The Hangover 2 made a bazillion dollars this weekend (I still have to see the first one, so I'm holding off), I went to see Bridesmaids instead and it was HILARIOUS!

Melissa McCarthy (above) almost steals the movie (and that's hard to do, because Kristen Wiig is a riot).

Photobucket

If you want to spend a couple of hours just laughing your ass off, I highly recommend you see this.

I won't spoil any of the surprises, but there is a scene in this bridal shop that you won't soon forget.

Photobucket

I'll just say this...refrain from drinking any beverage once they enter that room.

Trust me.

It's legit!

 photo Kristen_zpshgc4ygxw.jpg

Kristen Wiig celebrated her birthday over the weekend. So, to join in the festivities, I think we need to watch some of her most memorable characters from SNL...

I had forgotten about Judy Grimes the "Just Kidding" lady...HILARIOUS.

And I'm not kidding.

Better than Cats

 photo Screen Shot 2020-02-10 at 6.37.15 PM_zpsiiz24qed.png

The first pic of Kristen Wiig as Cheetah (the villain) in the new Wonder Woman 1984 movie appeared online over the weekend.

It'll be interesting to see other pics of her character as they start to release more images and posters from the movie as it approaches its opening on June 4th.

I can't wait!

Closet Talk

Photobucket

I love me some Kristen Wiig from SNL and I found this really funny interview of her from 7 Minutes in Heaven, an online show where the host, Mike O'Brien, chats with celebrities...in a closet.

She slays me.

Blue Steel Killers

 photo a9a6a51c-03a1-4e3e-8ad0-aab9b986805e_zpss3cprasa.jpg

The first trailer for Zoolander 2 was released today and, if nothing else, it features a world where Justin Bieber is no longer with us (and is that necessarily a bad thing?)...

It definitely looks like they made sure that this one was just as silly as the first, which is probably a good thing.

Plus, Kristen Wiig is in it...so, that's ALWAYS a good thing.

The movie hits runways on February 12th.

Golden Moments

These were the two best moments of the Golden Globes last night....first, Kristen Wiig and Steve Carell give a surprisingly dark, and hilarious, introduction to Best Animated Film....

And....Meryl Streep's Cecil B. DeMille award speech.

"And this instinct to humiliate, when it’s modeled by someone in the public platform, by someone powerful, it filters down into everybody’s life, because it kind of gives permission for other people to do the same thing. Disrespect invites disrespect. Violence incites violence. When the powerful use their position to bully others, we all lose."

Amazing speech and powerful words.

Truth.

I love surprises

 photo 3bd78297-5e0c-40c0-86ab-01d3992164a1_zpsc287ccec.jpg

The first trailer for Girl Most Likely, starring the always entertaining Kristen Wiig and Annette Bening was released today and it looks like it could be a hoot.

 photo c4eb7678-5013-441a-950a-ed360823f80c_zps7ea4b80c.jpg

It looks pretty funny and has a good cast, including Matt Dillon and Glee's Darren Criss.

 photo tumblr_mm6m9uOMwW1qfcdl6o1_500_zpsae777de7.gif

Darren's eyes seem especially dark in this image.

Maybe he was born with it.

Maybe it's Maybelline.
