Perry in Pink

Katy Perry's new video TGIF is shot like a John Hughes film from the 80's. Katy plays the Molly Ringwaldish lead along with some other 80's stars like Debbie Gibson and Corey Feldman (playing her parents), the Hanson brothers, and Kenny G on a rooftop wielding a sax.

Plus a couple of Glee stars pop up along the way...

Rad.

Stinky Pete

Conan O'Brien gave a very entertaining speech at Dartmouth's commencement ceremony over the weekend.

"Although you shouldn't fear failure...you should do your very best to avoid it."

Wise words.

2011 Tony Awards

Neil Patrick Harris was very entertaining (as always) last night as the host of the Tony Awards. He seems so comfortable hosting and really helped make the three hour show zip by with a smile. Here is his opening number and the "Dueling Hosts" bit he did with Hugh Jackman.

Neil and Hugh should just get a room already.

The KISS-off

Photobucket

On last night's episode of Chelsea Lately, Chelsea ripped into Gene Simmons about his awful wig and his apparent inability to stop sleeping with other women (this happened right after she showed a clip from his reality show that featured his long-time girlfriend, Shannon, confronting him about two women he was photographed with).

Enjoy the flaying...

He's a douche-bag.

She's hilarious.

Steve Jobs showed up at the Cupertino City Council to propose the plans for his new Apple office space, which would house 12,000 people and wouldn't contain one straight piece of glass in the whole building.

Very cool design and I would bet, if things go down on this planet...that building is gonna end up being able to fly.

And I want to be on it.

This is what the promo would look if the Green Lantern Corps guest-starred on Glee.

You will believe that a comic book character can sing.

It looks like Jimmy Kimmel also decided to parody Melissa Leo's awards campaign, but unlike Pee Wee Herman who used Photo Shop, he did some actual dress shopping.

I imagine the chest waxing before the shoot involved some very colorful metaphors.

Paul Rubens parodies Melissa Leo's Oscar campaign for his Emmy push for The Pee Wee Herman Show on Broadway that aired on HBO this year.

I bet Miss Yvonne is gonna want her coat back when winter hits.

I wonder...

iFanboy got to see the not-picked-up Wonder Woman pilot recently and gave a full review of what he thought.

The Wonder Woman on this show is a badass who is not above choking dudes with her lasso (her favorite move) or throwing a piece of pipe through your throat if you won’t stop shooting at her. For a weekly television show, the action scenes were fairly well executed and at times quite thrilling. The whole final sequence where she storms Veronica Cale’s compound and decimates her ‘roided out super-soldier army is really fun to watch.

Someone indicated that the plane behind her was their version of her invisible jet (which obviously is less than invisible). I'm just glad they brought back her red boots and tiny shorts.

Overall, I quite liked it. When I was done watching the pilot I found myself bummed out that I wouldn't be seeing any more episodes. I really liked this version of Wonder Woman. She is a badass fighter with a bit of an unhinged edge that gives her just a hint of "if she got out of control she'd be scary". She's also vulnerable and relatable as a person which is crucial for a television series lead.

Was she exactly the Wonder Woman from the comics? No. Of course not. But she's also not so far off as to be foreign. Ultimately, had this series been picked up I think we would have had an interesting new version of Wonder Woman, and a series that would have been a lot of fun.

It's a shame that we'll likely never get to see this pilot. You'd think that, if nothing else, they'd at least air the pilot and try to get some of their money back from the production.

I mean, they made and released that horrible Catwoman movie years ago with Halle Berry and it couldn't have been any worse than that.

Sounds of Silence

Improv Everywhere took a loud group of people into a park and then randomly muted them while confused people looked on...

I wish I could do that in a bar.
