It's a Dolly Holiday

Photobucket

She's lookin' swell...Dolly.

Last week during my visit to Asheville, we all made a trip up to Dollywood to see the holiday festivities there.

My Godson, Wiley, packed up White Kitty (his faithful easy-wash friend), put on some warm clothes, and off we went.

The drive through the mountains wasn't too bad and it was interesting to see the trees devoid of leaves along the way, considering the last time I was on those roads, it was Fall and quite beautiful. Thankfully the weather outside wasn't frightful, so the drive was quite delightful.

It was supposed to be sunny and in the upper 40's that day, but as with all weather reports, they were a "little" off and it turned out to be a lot colder than we had anticipated.

But, kids don't care about the cold, the arctic breeze, or the fact that the adults around them have no feeling left in any of their digits...they just want to ride the rides.

And ride them...they did.

I saw this little girl get off of one of the rides wearing her father's down vest which was just a "little" too big for her...but she didn't seem to mind at all.

I'm sure that vest-skirt look has already caught on and all the Beverly Hills elite are already wearing them with their Uggs to the mall as I post this.

It was my first time at the park and, although it was quite chilly and Dolly was nowhere in sight, we had a lot of fun. There certainly was plenty to do and see...

I even got a tour of one of Dolly's private tour buses. Here is where Miss Parton would rest her girls after a long day on the road.

Photobucket

They must have had a separate bus for the wigs and upper-support apparati.

Of course, the best part of the brisk day was seeing the park all lit up and sparkly at night.

It really was quite stunning and a lot of fun to just "oooh" and "aaahhh" at the colorful display all around.

A fun time was definitely had by all and, most importantly, by Wiley and his constant companion, el Gato Blanco.

The adults thawed out on the drive home.

We certainly missed ya', but at least you were warm in your nice place while we were freezing our bits off. =)
