Roger Moore

 photo 84a06d36-6b7c-44f4-8976-17407a58280d_zpsnf8hajfb.jpg

Very sad news today...

Sir Roger Moore, the third actor to take on the legendary mantle of James Bond, has died at the age of 89.

A star of the TV screen during the mid 20th-century—in starring roles such as Ivanhoe, Maverick, and most famously as Simon Templar in The Saint—Moore achieved global fame when he replaced George Lazenby as the new star of the James Bond franchise.

Moore played the hero—a suave, more humorous bent on the iconic British spy in comparison to his predecessors—across seven feature films between 1973 and 1985, covering franchise classics like The Man with Golden Gun and The Spy Who Loved Me.

He certainly had a long career and will always be fondly remembered for his fun James Bond portrayal, giving the character a much-needed sense of humor.

He will be missed.

We all have our secrets

 photo N_zpstxolccfb.jpg

The first trailer for the new James Bond movie, No Time To Die, was released today...

These movies all pretty much have the same plot, lots of being chased, shot at, big stunts, being captured, almost dying, then escaping, the end.

But, they are always well done, beautifully shot, and good mindless fun until the next one rolls around.

We'll see how Daniel Craig's final Bond performance does when it opens on April 8th.

Skyfall

skyfall-adele-banner

The full version of Adele's new theme song to the upcoming James Bond film, Skyfall, was released yesterday and it's beautiful.

It sounds like so many of the classic Bond film themes...her voice is perfect for it.

I love me some Adele!

Trailer. Bond Trailer.

skyfall-movie-poster

The first teaser trailer for the new James Bond film, Skyfall, was released today...

Looks like the others, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Also more sad music news...

Robin Gibb, one of three brothers who made up the group the Bee Gees behind "Saturday Night Fever" and other now-iconic sounds from the 1970s, died on Sunday, according to a statement on his website.

He will be missed.

It looks bondy...very James Bondy.

That's a good thing.

I'm in.

New Star Trek movie trailer

The first extended trailer was released this weekend with the new James Bond movie. If you haven't seen it there (and it looks much cooler on a big screen!), then check this out...

If it's half as good as this trailer looks...we just might be in for a very fun ride with the Trek kids!

The official studio site for the movie was also updated yesterday. It's a nice visual concept, but unfortunately, it's a very flash-heavy site and tends to freeze up a bit at certain points (it happened twice for me in the photos section).

It never ceases to amaze me how some studios continue to build these huge, fancy, technology-filled sites, while forgetting that many people will have trouble viewing it on their computers. When that happens...people just stop going to their site, which is the opposite of what the studios want.

To the studios who do that, I say....

That is illogical.

Oh...and Duh.

Here are some additional photos from the trailer, like wee Spock (above).

Winona Ryder playing Spock's human mother, Amanda, and Ben Cross playing his father, Sarek.

Kirk and Spock brooding on the pristine iMac bridge.

Uhura lookin' sassy.

Sulu lookin'...well, just lookin'.

Kirk and a female in their space underoos, possibly, about to have relations.

Can you hear the sound of thousands of Trek fans getting inappropriately excited?

In space...no one can hear you ovulate.

Ship ahoy!

Entertainment Weekly got the first look at JJ Abrams's new Enterprise design and, overall, it looks pretty close to the original.

Abrams wanted to take the original TV-series Enterprise and the movie-franchise Enterprise and fuse them together into a new yet familiar Enterprise. His ambition was a ship that felt very realistic, that could stand up to today's F/X standards -- and beyond. "If you're going to do Star Trek, there are many things you cannot change. The Enterprise is a visual touchstone for so many people. So if you're going to do the Enterprise, it better look like the Enterprise, because otherwise, what are you doing?"

As usual, fans are giving it mixed reviews...some love it, others hate it.

I think it looks fine and will reserve judegment until after I've seen a full trailer. I really liked the recent set of cast pictures from the film that I posted recently, so I'm still pretty happy with how the new version appears to be looking.

The good news is that the first extended "Star Trek" movie trailer will be released with the new James Bond movie opening this weekend....so, I'm really looking forward to seeing both of them.

I have a friend at Paramount who has already seen the new trailer (which was presented by JJ Abrams himself) and, although my friend is not a big Star Trek fan, his reaction to the trailer was simply "AWESOME!".

That's enough for me.

Spectre Poster

 photo 904a41e9-4e7a-4af8-823c-221ff6f78349_zpsrz5pisbe.jpg

The studio just released the official poster for the next James Bond movie, Spectre.

I think the skeleton graphic in the back is oddly distracting and kinda cheap-halloween-suit looking. Hopefully it's not just a crazy way for them to bring Judi Dench's character, M, back to life for the movie.

Although, even as a skeleton, she'd still out-act the rest of the cast around her.

The movie opens November 6th.

Trailer Park

A couple of new trailers were released today. First one is for X-Men: Apocalypse...

It's looking really good...action-packed and fun-filled.

And next, a new Legend of Tarzan trailer...

As much as I hate to admit it...this actually looks like it might be pretty good.

Of course, the last James Bond movie, Spectre looked like it would be good too.

Yet...it was not.

Disappointingly so.
