Olympics Opening Ceremony

I wish I had recorded this...

I kind of forgot that the Olympics were about to start up and, after looking at this photo spread on Boston.com, I really regret not paying more attention.

It looks amazing!

I think I may have to check the interbots and see if I can find some video coverage of the event.

I hear that is where all the kids get their information these days.

AbFab Olympics Special

Photobucket

A new episode of AbFab will be airing this month on BBC America, just in time for the Olympics. And, as you can see by the pic above...the ladies actually end up inside the Olympic Stadium at some point and do their usual damage.

Here is the synopsis of the episode:

Eddy decides to rent out her London flat to a Hollywood somebody but doesn't actually leave the residence. She not only gate-crashes the A-lister's holiday, but she and Patsy somehow end up on the inside of the Olympic stadium and find a way into Stella McCartney's private reception.

Like the previous new episodes, this one looks like it could be very entertaining!

Cheers!

A plunging neckline

Should one wear open-toed shoes with this look?

Michael Phelps, "he-who-must-win-medals", is on the cover of the new Sports Illustrated magazine that is about to hit newsstands soon. It is a take on the infamous Mark Spitz photo from 1972.

Both men are certainly top-notch athletes and should be very proud of their amazing accomplishments. It's one thing to dream of being in the Olympics (I wanted to be an Olympic gymnast, but lacked the skill, dedication and limited TV watching that was required), but it is an entirely different thing to actually train hard enough to eventually realise that dream.

As nice as Phelps' J-Lo-inspired look from SI is above...I think I prefer this Time magazine cover shot better.

All that red in the SI shot makes him look, although bejeweled to the tits, a bit too Skreech from "Saved by the Bell" to me.

Rogue Warrior

The first full trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was finally released last night during the Olympics...

It's a pretty cool trailer and looks like it's got plenty of action.

And...Darth Vader.

Squeeeee!

The movie opens on December 10th.

Heel clicking

The daily news in this country can really be a downer...

These are the current headlines on the homepage of CNN.com:

Edwards admits to extramarital affair
Mexican cartels grow pot in U.S. national forests
Ticker: Antichrist Obama in McCain ad?
CNNMoney: Stocks end the week with a bang
Russian, Georgian troops in fierce fighting
iReport.com: Georgians 'anxious' about war
Afghan 'surge' may not be enough, general says
China's president declares Olympics open
Detroit mayor faces new felony charges
Mom lied about missing tot's call, cops say
Dead girl, 5, left last message for family
Zakaria: Raw power and self-interest in Pakistan
Glenn Beck : Drive naked, save America
Wedding-day disasters didn't stop 'I dos'
Ghostly image caught on security cam
CNN Wire: Russia takes fight to Tbilisi

It's a wonder people are able to get out of bed each morning and go about their day with any kind of hope.

I know that times have changed. The world has changed. Views have changed. Yearning for a simpler time may not be realistic to some, but I have to wonder if, overall, people felt more optimistic and positive many years ago.

I saw this comedy clip on the "Alternate ending to the Wizard of Oz" and, as funny as it is, it's probably exactly how a modern day Dorothy would react within that classic film.

Our beloved Dorothy with the mouth of a truck driver.

Welcome to 2008!

Kumar without Harold

How did I miss this?

I recorded several nights of the Olympics broadcast (and still have a few on the DVR to watch) and don't recall seeing any wrestling coverage.

AfterElton posted some info on Sushil Kumar, an Indian wrestler who won a bronze medal during the games.

He's visually enjoyable and certainly worth more screen time than the hours of volleyball and motorcross coverage that I had to fast-forward through.

Priorities, people!

All good things...

Danell-Leyva-4

Well, the Olympics are ending this weekend and the closing ceremonies are on Sunday. So, in honor of that, I thought I would post a few pics from Lifestyle Miami, which featured an interview with American gymnast Danell Leyva.

The interview is in Spanish, so I am not quite sure what he actually said.

But, at this point...does it really matter?

Danell-Leyva-7

Me thinks not.

Olympic Fever

With the 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony tomorrow night setting off a couple weeks of non-stop sports, I thought I would join in the celebration by showcasing a few of the fine bendy folks from our U.S. Gymnastics team.

OH....and Kathy Griffin has a new comedy special airing tonight on BRAVO called "Seaman 1st Class".

From the title, I would assume it's about....the Navy.

Cheerio!

Photobucket

Last week, I featured the U.S. Men's Gymnastic's team and, to balance things out, I thought I would feature the UK's version of our Danell Leyva....Louis Smith.

Four years ago, at the Beijing Olympics, Smith was Britain's first Olympic gymnast to bring home a medal in 80 years. This year, his team brought home the bronze medal...the first time a British team has done that in over a century.

Of course, it would be unpatriotic to root for him exclusively, so I will continue to cheer for our Danell, who appears, here, to be iPhone chatting with Louis Smith.

Leyva2

I do enjoy it when teams make an effort to get along and send naked pictures to each other.

Danell seems to have captured America's heart and other regions in more ways than one. He just seems to have it all.

Leyva42

Good looks.

A supportive father who obviously loves him to death.

A magical old good luck blanket that has over 10,000 Twitter followers....

Really.

It does.

Leyva

And, of course....he can do that.

Lucky bendy bastard.
