Logan trailer

 photo 1119b07a-3b53-4f74-b1c5-9cb24c3a6dbb_zpsqalvmfkp.jpg

The first trailer for the X-Men Wolverine-focused movie, Logan, was released today...

It's definitely got a different tone than most of the other X-Men movies (as it seems there are very few X-Men still alive) and also looks a bit like a dusty road trip movie with an elderly Professor Xavier and a young female Wolverine, X-23.

I'm not sure how I feel about that.

However...I will be going to see it anyway.

The movie slices its way into theaters on March 3rd.

I'm very excited that X-Men: Days of Future Past opens today. It's already making good money and the reviews, overall, have been pretty good.

In honor of that, it's important to look at their "past" movies and enjoy all that was wrong in the X-Men trilogy by watching the always-entertaining Honest Trailer...

"Professor X…the Dumbledore of Xavier's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It's basically ITT Tech for weirdos."

Hilarious.

Professor X-lax

The director of Logan (the Wolverine sequel I posted about yesterday) shared a photo today of Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier in the sequel...and it's not pretty.

More on this from The Wrap...

“Professor X (Patrick Stewart) is old and not well. His powers are unstable and at times he doesn’t even remember Logan.”

He looks like the Ghost of X-Men Past.

Of course, his character has already died twice in two other X-Men movies and alternate realities...so, technically, he is kind of a ghost.

Can't wait to see this when it opens on March 3rd.

Blast from the Past

Photobucket

Two trailers for upcoming films based on previous movies were released this week. The first is the prequel to the X-Men Films titled X-Men: First Class.

Aside from the awful publicity photo, this looks like it could be a fun film about how the all the kids came together. I really enjoyed seeing how Kirk, Spock and McCoy all met in the reboot of Star Trek. We'll soon find out if Xavier and Magneto meeting will be anywhere near as interesting or compelling.

We're also getting a remake of one of my all-time favorite movies, Arthur.

I think Helen Mirren will be great (although John Gielgud will always be THE Hobson to me), but I'm not as sure about Russell Brand as Arthur. He's certainly British and acts immature, so that could work to his favor. But, he seems more wacky than real in this and it'll be interesting to see how that translates to making an audience care about him in the film.

I just hope this movie is not anywhere near as awful as the Bewitched remake that Nora Ephron wrote a few years ago.

I will never forgive her or the studio for putting together the perfect cast and then eviscerating the story and sucking every last ounce of magic out of, what was, such a fun and magically-entertaining show.

Endora will get your for that, Nora.

Boldly keeps going

Deadline featured a very nice interview with Patrick Stewart today, where he discusses his career, Star Trek, and his final appearance as Professor Xavier in Logan...

He's had an amazing career and looks really good for 77 years old.

I'll have what he's having.
