Left behind

Hopefully that wasn't the only reason...

I mean, most of those dresses can cover a lot of "real estate".

Check out more PostSecret confessions here.

Yep, he's...

A father of two twin boys...

And...he's gay.

"I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man," Martin wrote on his official Web site. "I am very blessed to be who I am."

Martin said that disclosing his secret is important because of his two sons, born via surrogate.

"To keep living as I did up until today would be to indirectly diminish the glow that my kids were born with," he wrote.

"Enough is enough. This has to change. This was not supposed to happen five or 10 years ago, it is supposed to happen now. Today is my day, this is my time, and this is my moment."

Photobucket

For many people, this isn't a big surprise. However, I still think it's good when celebrities come out and talk about their own struggles and fears along the way.

If it helps even one or two people somewhere in the world who are struggling with the same issues find the strength and courage to live their own lives more honestly and become, ultimately, happier...

Then,  that's bueno.

I'm not really a fancy car-person, but this new 789 design from n2a (No Two Alike) caught my eye...

If money wasn't an object, I think I would get me one of these...they're pretty cool-looking.

Kinda like a luxury Batmobile.

Super Tuesday

Chris Evans has just signed to play Captain America in the upcoming Marvel film, The First Avenger: Captain America.

It's an odd choice, since he already played Johnny Storm (the "Flame-ON!" guy) in the previous Marvel Fantastic Four movies (which are going to be redone again with a new cast). He'll also play Captain America in the upcoming "Avengers" movie, which will also include Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), the Hulk (Edward Norton), and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) all in one movie.

Filming has already begun on a stand-alone Thor movie with Chris Hemsworth (he played Kirk's young father in the last Star Trek movie), which will also co-star Anthony Hopkins and is being directed by Kenneth Branagh.

It will be cool to see an Avengers movie with all three characters (and probably more) and the same actors starring in them for once. It's a shame that Warner Bros. still hasn't be able to get their Justice League movie off the ground. Maybe Avengers will help give them a bit of a competition push...

However, the DC Universe is still going strong, there is a new Batman movie and Superman and X-Men movie reboots in the works and, of course, we have Ryan Reynolds currently filming the Green Lantern movie...so I'm looking forward to those as well.

The new Conan movie was also cast recently, with Stargate Atlantis actor Jason Momoa taking over Arnold's infamous loin cloth (hopefully it was dry-cleaned first).

I'm sure that Jason's main competition for the role, Kellan Lutz (from the movie Twilight and recent Calvin Klein ads), was bummed when he didn't get the barbarian role. But, I'm sure he's over it now...

It was announced today that Kellan has been cast as the Greek god Poseidon in the upcoming movie War of the Gods, which will also star Mickey Roarke (who also co-stars in the upcoming Iron Man 2) as King Hyperion.

Gold's Gym must be very busy lately with all of these Superhero, Warrior, and and Greek God movies coming out.

I certainly don't see any of these actors "preparing for their roles" at my local 24 Hour Fitness.

Healthy Choice

I'm really glad that the Health Care Bill passed yesterday.

Let's hope that this survives all the craziness that is being planned to delay or defeat it by the ass-hats over the coming week.

All available body parts are crossed.

Just like Jesse James

I really feel sad for Sandra Bullock...

I was so moved when, at the Emmys, she said that she was so happy to finally find someone who had her back and how much she loved him.

That sense of trust and security is so rare to find in a partner and, now, is just another example of why it's even harder to believe that it's possible for the rest of us to hope for in this world.

Men are bad.

Fall Fashion

Whoever says that being a model isn't a dangerous job obviously hasn't been watching "America's Next Top Model" recently...

If Tyra really wanted to ramp things up, she'd have made the pendulums razor-sharp.

It would certainly make the elimination process much more visual...

Hot in Cleveland

It looks like Betty White's career continues to be on an upswing...

TV Land has signed Emmy Award-winning and audience-adored actress Betty White to star in the highly anticipated TV Land PRIME Original sitcom Hot in Cleveland, which is scheduled to premiere in June. White will take on the role of the snarky but lovable Elka Ostrovsky, property caretaker of the home that co-stars Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick rent after their plane makes an emergency landing in Cleveland and they decide to stay.

Besides Betty, I'm really excited that they also got Wendie Malick (always so funny on Just Shoot Me!) and Jane Leeves (Daphne from Frasier). Plus, it's nice to see Jenny Craig alumni, Valerie Bertinelli, back on TV again. Although, she doesn't look quite as bikini-friendly here as she did a few months ago in all the magazine spreads.

But, the fact that she's part of the cast at least dispells the nasty rumor that Kirstie Alley had eaten her.

If the show is half as entertaining as this clip from the pilot...we may have some must-see TV Land to watch soon.

Telephone

Here is the new Lady Gaga-Beyonce video for "Telephone" that all the kids are talking about.

It's certainly an interesting mini-movie concept with crazy costumes, slutty prison gals, and technicolor visuals (although it has nothing to do with the words of the song about being in a dance club).

As nice as it is to see these two doing something different and fun together...

I still enjoy the video for "Bad Romance" more.

Funny Muthas

Yeah! It looks like the Facebook campaign to get Betty White on as host of Saturday Night Live actually worked...

Facebook has gotten Betty White the gig she never asked for: host of Saturday Night Live.

The 88-year-old actress, beloved by generations of TV fans, will host NBC's late-night veteran May 8. The Mother's Day episode also will feature a reunion of six former female cast members, most of them moms: Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Maya Rudolph, Ana Gasteyer and Rachel Dratch.

Michaels says that as the live show's oldest host, she can perform "as much as she wants to do" but adds that the physical demands of the show led him to plan the cast reunion, though make no mistake: White is the solo host.

With Betty and that cast of hilarious women from SNL past...it should be an amazing show. Hopefully they'll let Tina Fey and Amy Poehler write most of the sketches.

And, fingers crossed, perhaps we'll get a visit from Tina Fey's Sara Palin and, my personal favorite...

Mary Katherine Gallagher.

Superstar!!

Flaunt it

Animal Planet's Dave Salmoni generally spends his time in the wild with a variety of animals that most of us only get to see on TV or at the zoo. And, for the most part, that is fine with me. My fear of spiders and most reptiles keeps me from visiting a wide variety of desert-friendly states and countries.

I most recently became aware of Dave because of his many visits to Chelsea Lately, mainly because he always seems to bring out an animal or reptile that completely freaks her out...which always makes me laugh. During his last visit to her show, Chelsea mentioned that he had done a photoshoot for Flaunt Magazine and, after showing one of the photos...

She said that, if he ever does another silly shoot like that, he's not allowed to come back on the show.

I have a feeling that she had not seen all of the photos before making that statement...

My guess is that she'll be booking him on the show again very soon...

And likely requiring him to wear far less clothing...as he did here, dressed as Tarzan, on the Tyra Banks Halloween Show last year.

I'm sorry...what was I talking about?

Thursday, March 11, 2010

Yep, he's....

...the guy who played Jack on "Will and Grace".

And he's also gay and finally talks about it in this Advocate interview...

“I am who I am. I was never in, as they say. Never,” he insists.

“I believe that nobody owes anything to anybody,” Hayes says, so worked up that he repeats the line. “Nobody owes anything to anybody. You are your authentic self to whom and when you choose to be, and if you don’t know somebody, then why would you explain to them how you live your life?”

"Nobody owes anything to anybody"?

He hasn't seen my latest Capital One statement...

A very lost boy

Sadly, this doesn't come as a surprise...

Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- Former 1980s teen movie actor and heartthrob Corey Haim died early Wednesday, authorities said.

Haim, 38, was taken to Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California, where he was pronounced dead at 2:15 a.m. Los Angeles police Sgt. Frank Albarran said earlier that Haim's death appeared to be accidental and may have been due to an overdose.

It's always unfortunate when young actors get caught up in the drug scene and never find their way out. I really enjoyed his films like "Lost Boys" and "Lucas" when he was younger. It's too bad that he wasn't able to balance his life out and continue with his career.

He was a very talented kid.

Whoopsie Goldberg

It looks like June Allyson has passed the adult diaper baton...

They should have added Whoopie's character from Ghost warning a woman who is laughing too hard:

"You in danger, girl!"

I'm sure SNL is wetting themselves with excitement over the many parody possibilities...

The envelope please...

The Academy Awards were actually a lot of fun tonight. I thought Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin's opening was hilarious. The writing was funny and they really played off of each other nicely. That Paranormal Activity spoof they did was a riot!

There were some obvious winners (Mo'Nique and Jeff Bridges) and some interesting surprises (The Hurt Locker winning over Avatar and Sandra Bullock winning over Meryl Streep).

Plus, my roommate Joel redesigned, printed out, and framed some really fun movie posters to include a few of our friends who came over to watch the show tonight. So, of course, I have to share those here too.

Another nice surprise was Star Trek winning an award for Best Makeup. It is the first Academy Award that any Star Trek movie has ever won (and there have been ten other Treks before this one). So, naturally I was very excited about that (as you can see by my smile in the poster above).

Unfortunately, not everyone who is nominated can win. Like Colin Firth in A Single Man (which is a great movie, if you haven't seen it).

Matt Damon didn't win for Invictus (although it's always nice to see him).

Sherlock Holmes didn't win either, but I thought Robert Downey Jr. was quite entertaining while presenting with Tina Fey (who I always enjoy) for the writing awards.

Even though Hugh Jackman did a nice job hosting last year, I kinda hope they let Steve and Alec host again next year. Or Abe Vigoda and Betty White...they were sure funny together in that Snickers commercial.

I also think that Sean Penn might have been tipping the hooch backstage before he presented tonight. Otherwise, can someone please explain to me what the hell he was rambling on about before he finally handed out his award?

I haven't seen Inglourious Basterds yet, but I hear that Christoph Waltz (the guy who won Best Supporting Actor) was really good. Although, I'm just not sure I can sit through the scalpings and other bloody stuff that is supposed to be scattered throughout the film.

Has anyone seen Young Victoria? I do enjoy Emily Blunt (she was so funny in The Devil Wears Prada), so was happy that it at least won an award for Costume Design.

Because...without costumes, everyone would be naked in every movie.

And, as we learned from Harvey Keitel in The Piano...that isn't always a good thing.

Alice in chains

Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland opens in theaters all over the country this weekend. Like Avatar, everyone is expecting this 3-D extravaganza to be another cash-cow for the studios. I'm sure it will do well, but am waiting to see it for myself before making any assumptions or comparrisons.

I'm a little hesitant to jump on the 3-D bandwagon just yet. For every Avatar and Wonderland that comes out, there is a Land of the Lost and Journey to the Center of the Earth that follows.

An extra "D" doesn't always make the subject more exciting.

Just look at Pamela Anderson...

Poehler-ized

Seth Macfarlane, creator of TV's Family Guy, is a very big fan of Star Wars and Star Trek. So, when the late Gene Roddenberry was inducted into the Television Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame recently...Seth was invited to do a tribut to Mr. Roddenberry.

His speech is great.

What's odd is Amy Poehler's awkardly stiff and seemingly unrehearsed introduction of the whole segment...

I love Amy and she is usually hilarious and comfortable whenever she speaks. Not so much on this day.

They should have let Stewie do Seth's intro...that would have been a hoot.

If you missed the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode of Family Guy, you can watch some very funny highlights here:

Nippy

It looks like the U.S. Olympic Bobsled team decided to cool down a bit and pose for a photo together. If you'd like to see a larger version of it (for research purposes, of course), click here.

I think if they participated in the event like this, a lot more people would have watched it.

Southern Comfort

I wrote a new travel article for the latest issue of Instinct Magazine (pictured above) titled "Southern Comfort" that arrives on newsstands starting today. Also, all of the photography within the article is mine as well.

They even promoted my story on the cover (the "Trippin' Out" header), which was a very nice surprise.

The article is all about my trip to Louisville (Kentucky), Johnson City (Tennessee), and Asheville (North Carolina).

So, look for it at your local bookstore or newsstand over the next few weeks and let me know what you think.

I hope you enjoy it and, if you do, feel free to let the editor know too!

Stir Crazy

This guy has found a very entertaining and creative way to keep sane while being quarantined in the hospital for a couple of months...
