Slumming

The Oscar's should be interesting this year...

"Slumdog Millionaire" won Best Drama, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Original Score last night at the Golden Globe Awards ceremony. That's pretty amazing for a small film, considering the competition it was up against. I saw the movie this weekend and, although I initially didn't have any desire to see it, it turned out to be a really good movie.

Not at all what I expected...

The best actor/actress awards also provided some interesting surprises.

Kate Winslet won Best Actress in a Drama, beating out Meryl Streep and Angelina Jolie (who really was great in "Changeling"). She was obviously as suprised as anyone to win, which always makes for the best speeches.

Mickey Rourke won for "The Wrestler", which just seems like one of those perfect comeback projects with a role for someone who was once very famous and messed up his life (and face) getting to play someone who was very famous, then messed up his life.

I'm all for second chances in life and, surprisingly, am looking forward to seeing that film (no matter how much I hate boxing and botoxing).

I'm so tickled for "Slumdog Millionaire" I can hardly contain myself. I met Dev Patel a month or two ago when he blew in town for a press junket before the movie opened here in the US. I fell in love, he's beyond sweet and to die for; he's one of those folks you can only wish great things will happen to.

I haven't stopped grinning yet!
